Second controller audio on Xbox one S

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. Bailout Is correct here, you would need to make sure the second controller is turned on by using it in some way.

Aside from that, you can by pass the need to assign both controllers to a profile by using the

"Co-pilot" feature.

to use a headset via 3.5mm jack the controller would need to be on. xbox controllers have an auto turn off to save battery life after 10 mins inactivity. there's nothing stopping you from doing what you suggest. just use the accessory app to assign both
controllers to your profile. however you will have to use the second controller on regular basis to keep it switched on.

alternatively invest in a wireless headset that way you will not require to use a 3.5 mm jack

they are the same as the standard xbox one s controllers, so with pc you can use via bluetooth(audio through headphone jack not supported)

or wired(supports audio via headphone jack)
