My Seagate GoFlex External Hard Drive (500 GB / USB 3.0) has to be unplugged and then plugged in again after each "boot" of my Xbox 360 S console. Just thought I should post something.

Xbox One not recognizing any USB storage

Seagate 2 TB external hard drive is BAD, the factory marked date is 6/2017 that is not good.. so I had that replaced 2 times, then I gave up the seagate drives and I bought the MyPassport X WD drive, it's work great and never break on me. Best Buy store
ran out of My Passsport X WD drive, you can order it online.. so that make sure it's X after "My Passport" the X is the Xbox only..

How do I go about buying an external hard drive for the xbox one?
I'm looking at the "Seagate Expansion 3TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0"
That's the exact same external drive I use, and I have not had a single problem with it.

Seagate hard drives are known to have issues with the 360. There's not really a fix for it except to use a different drive.

Well, you did buy a trash drive. Try a different USB cable. The fact it doesn't power up when the console powers on means it's a possible issue with the drive. You get what you pay for :S

It powers up fine, just does not show. Unplugged Xbox, plugged in everythin again including drive, plug in Xbox. Drive detects fine. Power off Xbox, do not unplug, power on, drive "not there", must replug.

Yes...that means the drive doesn't power up and/or spin up properly. The 360 always keeps power to the USB ports. I guess the drive detects that there's been a change in power (because the USB ports shut off when you power down, but if there's something
in the port, it powers it back on.), and the drive doesn't spin up because the 360 isn't on. But yes. It's probably the drive. Because it's Seagate. And Seagate makes bad drives.

What do I do about my xbox series x not turning on?

I had it unplugged for an hour or two but it isn't plugged directly to a wall outlet, it's plugged into one of those power strips with a surge protector and I have one External hard drive and a Seagate SDD card in it as well as an adapter for a wireless keyboard.
