Using an Xbox One X Gears (White) LE

formatted external drive more than once and only shows 1 TB not 8TB of available space.

I filed a support request through Seagate and will look to contact them on Monday Dec 2nd, 2019.

Xbox is a month+ old and current on all OS updates.

Does it still only report as 1TB if connecte/formatted to a PC/laptop?

Was it purchased new? If so, I'd be inclined to return it!

YES.

Yes. New from Walmart electronics.

They only had one so no exchange is possible..

I think there's two hdd in the device and one has failed the Long Generic test using seagate tool for windows (drives).

the 8TB Game Drive Hub made by Seagate works really well, but if you can find an SSD External drive it would be better but it will cost more. The Seagate I referred to is HDD but it works fine.

Okay i will try what was suggested bellow and if not re format but if i do it on my xbox wont it use it for game storage? I only want it for media, i have the seagate 8tb game hub for game

I have a WD 8TB and a Seagate 8TB hard drive, no issues. Max overall is 16TB. You could in theory get a 10TB and a 6TB hard drive.
