Seagate Game Drive 4TB Issues

Hi,

i use a Seagate Game Drive for Xbox 4TB since Xmas 2016. It's connected to my Xbox One for saving Games & Apps. In the last days i spotted Issues with some Games saved on this external HDD like irregular very short screen freezes and Sound stuttering.

I copied one Game (Halo MCC) to the intern HDD. Starting this Game from the internal Drive caused no problems. Runs as it should.

The Issue seems to affect the reading perfomance only.

I tried all different USB Ports at Xbox One, 3 different USB 3.0 Cables, including a Y-Cable for extra Power. Downloaded the SeaTools App on a Windows 10 Laptop with USB 2.0

First Fast Tests were succeeded.

Anyone ideas to HELP me or what else i can try? Don't know how to reclaim because all in all this Game Drive seems to be ok?!?

ps. Fallout Shelter hooks too. Would describe it with micro freezes, but no sound problems.

Xbox One External Hard drive

Is the Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE external drive too slow for the XB1?

Seagate sells the 4TB Xbox Game Drive. This drive looks very similar to its cousin the 4TB Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE (and I write portable in caps because Seagate also sells the Backup Plus that is a bigger 3.5" external drive that needs external power while the portable model is driven by power from the USB 3 port itself).

When I got the drive I proceeded to format it on the XB1 and downloaded Gears of War 4 to it. The game launched without any problem but the music stuttered. I found this very strange and proceeded to move the game from the external drive to the internal on the XB1 and there the music and everything worked perfectly.

Has anyone tested one of the Seagate Backup Plus Portable drives on the XB1 for storing games on them? What are your results? I found this article on storagereview and it appears that the Xbox Game Drive is indeed a little faster on sequential read speeds than the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB on the syntetic tests:

external hard drive no longer recognized after update

Hi guys,

Could you please post the make, model and sizes of your drives. Personally I have a Seagate Desktop Expansion Drive that's 4TB and have had no issues whatsoever.

So to clarify your situation, games work just fine when they are loaded on your Xbox One console's internal hard drive, correct? It's when they are running off of your external hard drive that you're running into issues? Does this happen with EVERY game
that you have installed on your external HD or only some?

If this is happening with every game, it sounds like the issue is likely with your external hard drive. I would look into reformatting your
Seagate Game Drive back to factory defaults and trying again. If that doesn't help, you'll want to stay in contact with Seagate for further support from their end.

Yes, internal hard drive works fine. External Game Drive i noticed issues with some Games (Halo MCC, Fallout Shelter, Forza Horizon 2), curiously NOT EVERY game. I cannot spot a pattern because issues have a variable extent. First i thought only Halo MCC
as affected. Then i have short echo effects (stuttering sound) in FH2, but nothing else.

Seagate also told me reformatting this Drive. Unfortunately no other solution process. Think it was an automated standard email -.-

Is there a way to backup my Games before resetting? Because it will take a very long time to download all Games on the external HDD again.
