    Hi, i bought a new Seagate Game Drive 4 tb but i can't format it for game storage on the Xbox One because it doesn't give me the option to do it, it sees it as a media only device. All help is greatly appreciated Seagate Game Drive 4 tb only recognized as media device, no option to format it for games :)

    No format option for external hard drive.

    Hi, when i plug in a external hard drive in my Xbox One the format option does not come up. It's a new drive, usb 3.0 and 3 tb and it is recognized as a media drive. No format option in manage storage, only view content. Tried hard resets, formatting to
    exFAT and FAT32 etc.

    Does anyone have solution? Thnx!

    I wouldn't take that to the bank. I just bought a Seagate 4 TB USB 3.0, in fact it's the same one Major Nelson used in one of his videos, and even tweeted out a link to it, but it will NOT work. It always comes up as a media device, you can not store games
    and apps on a media device. I get no option to format it, Xbox support was no help at all on the matter, so I wish you luck.

    If it only recognizes it as media storage then its does not see the device as a USB 3 device, which is needed for game storage.

    You might want to to to storage and format it for games.

    I have a 4 TB Seagate and that was needed to be available for games.

    I'm having the same issue. I sent plenty of feedback (with screenshots) from my X1 to show how I even was given the option to format the hard drive in the storage settings but it never formatted. I tried formatting through my PC, but nothing. I bought a
    brand new Seagate Backup Slim Plus 2TB (USB 3.0) for Black Friday since I'm running low on space and now I'm facing issues. The Xbox One only recognizes it as is a media device.

    You will have to format the drive on the Xbox One in order for it to be used as a games disc. Otherwise it will only be recognized as a media drive.
