seagate external harddrive.

I use a Seagate 6tb external harddrive for my own console. A 4tb harddrive for the bedroom console and my son has a 2tb on his console. Ive had no issues with Seagate and wouldn't go anywhere else

If this is happening with multiple devices it may mean that the issue is the hard drive itself.

Have you tried to plug in the hard drive on your Laptop or PC to check if it will be detected from there?

Hey there if you visit the storage settings on your console you can reformat it to your desired use

It didn't allow that option tbh. I just bought it could it be defective maybe. I used the seagate diagnostics software they said to use but it still didn't work and passed the checks.

You can try to reformat it on your PC if its working there follow these steps bellow

1. Plug the USB drive into a PC that's running Windows.
2. Open File Explorer.
3. Right-click the name of your USB drive in the left pane.
4. From the pop-up menu, select Format.
5. In the File system dropdown menu, select NTFS.
6. Select Start to begin formatting.

Tried man and it didn't work I tried that plus the software it shows up on storage but it says Seagate Game Drive (1.7TB free of 1.7TB) Pictures, music & video.

I might just return it with packaging and receipt to Walmart get my money back get me a new harddrive but use a cheaper more efficient pc one instead for $76.

I fixed it by partitioning the harddrive and then formatting it afterwards and gave it a new drive letter.
