    Xbox One External Hard drive

Is the Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE external drive too slow for the XB1?

Seagate sells the 4TB Xbox Game Drive. This drive looks very similar to its cousin the 4TB Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE (and I write portable in caps because Seagate also sells the Backup Plus that is a bigger 3.5" external drive that needs external power while the portable model is driven by power from the USB 3 port itself).

When I got the drive I proceeded to format it on the XB1 and downloaded Gears of War 4 to it. The game launched without any problem but the music stuttered. I found this very strange and proceeded to move the game from the external drive to the internal on the XB1 and there the music and everything worked perfectly.

Has anyone tested one of the Seagate Backup Plus Portable drives on the XB1 for storing games on them? What are your results? I found this article on storagereview and it appears that the Xbox Game Drive is indeed a little faster on sequential read speeds than the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB on the syntetic tests:

I would love to read some real use experiences.
    Thank you.

Backwards compability for USB 3.0 External hardrives on XBox 360?

Seagate drives are not poor quality. I have used many Seagate drives in PC builds and never seen one fail. The reason they don't work with 360 is that the firmware used by Xbox was not designed for Seagate drives - nothing to do with quality.

    Seagate Drive

If it's new you may need to return it. If it's not new but the issue is just occurring you may need to see if you can find a solution for this issue via seagate website.

    External Hard drive

Pretty much any USB 3.0 external hard drive with a minimum capacity of 128gb will work. Most gamers use Seagate or Western Digital as their preferred choice, but as I say any brand will work.

I myself use Seagate game drive, Western Digital, Toshiba, as well as Samsung and Maxtor (Both use Seagate drives in the enclosure). The only problem I had was with the Game drive, but Seagate replaced it straightaway, and never had an issue since.

I recommend Seagate drives. They are reasonably priced and usually very reliable. I have two 2TB Seagate drives attached to my Xbox for games and another 1TB drive for movies etc.

Xbox One Hard Drive Full at 362 GB

I could not help but notice a few of you mentioned getting a SEAGATE external hard drive once support for external drives is enabled. I work in on computers for a living, STAY AWAY FROM SEAGATE DRIVES!!!!!

A while back, Seagate bought out Maxtor, and with it, millions and millions of their worthless drive platters.

I strongly suggest Western Digital Black or Green series. You will not regret it; it is highly likely you will regret a Seagate purchase in the medium to long run. If you do get a bad WD drive, they routinely overnight replacements to my shop all the time,
and that client's hard drive just works from then on. Seagate drags their feet, and then sends you another Seagate (many times a refurb)

Its like asking for another bullet after you get shot.

    Just sayin'
