    Seagate Drive wont work on xbox


    This Seagate drive i am using worked very well for a while on my Xbox and then i had to try to download windows to download it on my laptop so it was only the tool i was downloading so not sure if it is corrupted the light does come on so its got nothing to do with the xbox or wire or seagate drive being damaged and if i can fix it i have reformatted the HDD but its not coming up on my xbox it comes up on my laptop then says it cant eject because there is a windows app downloaded on it somehow i have tried to partition it as well but nothing is working if it wont work on my Xbox i will just use it for my laptop but i hope someone knows whats going on

    Hi there!

    I am sorry to hear about what happened. It looks like your external drive partition was somehow corrupted or changed when you downloaded a file to it from a different source. I would recommend that you reach out to the manufacturer's support to help you re-partition your drive correctly for your Xbox to detect it normally.

    Seagate drives are not poor quality. I have used many Seagate drives in PC builds and never seen one fail. The reason they don't work with 360 is that the firmware used by Xbox was not designed for Seagate drives - nothing to do with quality.

    External Hard drive

    Pretty much any USB 3.0 external hard drive with a minimum capacity of 128gb will work. Most gamers use Seagate or Western Digital as their preferred choice, but as I say any brand will work.

    I myself use Seagate game drive, Western Digital, Toshiba, as well as Samsung and Maxtor (Both use Seagate drives in the enclosure). The only problem I had was with the Game drive, but Seagate replaced it straightaway, and never had an issue since.

    It doesn't really matter which brand you go for, they all work pretty well. I myself use toshiba, maxtor & Seagate. The seagate drive (Xbox game drive) is the only one I have had issues with.

    Not able to install games on 2TB external hard drive

    Fantom Drives sent me an enclosure for the Seagate hard drive that allows it to be used again on the Xbox One. You have to install the Seagate drive into this new enclosure. It works fine now. Order the free enclosure here.
