Seagate Backup Plus 1.5TB USB3.0 hard drive not compatible?

Anyone else try to use this external hard drive (P/N 1K9APA-500) for moving games from the internal hard drive? It is recognized as external media so I can probably use it for movies or music, but I bought it specifically for expanding game storage. It
meets the specs according to the website. I spent about 40 minutes with tech support trying to get it to recognize it properly and came up empty.

Now if the drive isn't compatible then that's just bad luck, but I don't want to have a closet full of useless drives by playing the hit and miss game by trying to figure out which one works properly. Like I said the drive functions perfectly fine on PC's.
To me this is an XBOX issue at this point.....or Seagate is lying about their specifications which doesn't appear to be obvious.

Serious External Hard Drive Issues for Xbox One

I am finding this as well. playing video. and after a while hard drive gets dropped its annoying. Seagate backup plus slim.USB 3.0 1 TB external hard drive.

 

A lot of people have been having issues with seagate drives. Can you try reformatting the drive on your PC before using it on the console to see if that helps?

 

I purchased a Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB, USB 3.0 today, and I had the same experience. The XB1 only recognizes it as external media, and Xbox support could not find a fix. One of the support pages says that the hard drive must be partitioned. When
I look at mine, it appears to not be, showing only the "Primary Partition". Not sure if this is an issue, but if so, what do I do now? I also do not want to keep purchasing drives at $70+ each to find out one that works when the specs appear to be OK. Why
can some people just "plug and play'?

 

Reformatting didn't do anything.

 

Yeah, I had tried formatting it and then deleted and recreated it as an unformatted partition and had the same results; media drive only.

The drive works perfectly fine on PC.

 

New cable, same problem. Pretty irritated at this point.

 

Tonight's update fixed the issue. Copying games over as I type this....Pretty un-irritated now.
