  1. Seagate 2TB Game Drive Issue

I'm going to make this as detailed as possible. I own a Seagate 2TB game drive, which had over 200gb on games on it. I recently decided to try and back up my pc files on it as well, seeing there was plenty of space available. I read on other posts that in
order to use the drive for pc, you have to partition it through the disk management screen. I did this, without reformatting the drive or uploading any pc files to it, however when I plugged it back into my xbox one, I got a message that it recognizes a new
drive and wants to format it. My game data and the name i had created for the drive has disappeared. Is there any way I can recover this data? I did not format the drive again on xbox one when the message displayed. I just did a hard reset and am hoping i
didn't just lose everything...this is very frustrating.

    :)

  4. Seagate 2TB Game Drive Issue

My biggest concern is that i dont want to lose any saved game data. If I have to reinstall all of my games it will just be an inconvenience.

To use an external drive for games on the One the entire drive has to be formatted by the One and used exclusively for storing your games.

Your games saved data should be stored in the cloud too so you should not lose any of that.

  7. With the xbox one, the HDD needs to be formatted in its entirety with the Xbox One formatting and partition system, which is slightly different than Windows. The console OS won't "recognize" the hard drive as a game drive until you format it for the games
    on the console.

If you intend on doing both, you need to partition the hard drive in windows, then take it to the console and format it for the games on one partition and media the other.

When you partition a hard drive, everything on it is lost, and you will need to redownload the games to it on the partition you want it to.

    For What is worth:

The way I am doing now, is that I keep:

1- internal HD for console fonctions only ( temporary storage )

2- external HD for games and ad-ons only ( permanent storage )

    3- USB key for save-games

I free the infernal HD by transfering anything that I whant to keep on the external HD, so each 3 different storage helps the console
working and playing easier. Also when needed, int-HD and USB key can be removed to permit any repare and actions
that could result data loss on the console.
