Seagate 2TB external hard drive not working right

So I've had my Xbox One since day 1 with no issues. About a year ago I bought the Seagate 2TB HDD to support my growing game collection. This week I am house/dog-sitting for a family member, and when I took my Xbox One with me and set it up, my Xbox One
all of a sudden will no longer launch games ONLY WHEN THE SYSTEM IS STARTED WITH THE EXTERNAL PLUGGED IN. When I turn off the Xbox and then restart it WITHOUT the External plugged in, it loads games fine. I'm thinking, though, that the switch in networks between
my house and this house has caused some kind of defect/corrupt file to pop up.

IF I move everything to my External off my internal and perform a FULL factory reset (obviously with the HDD unplugged), and reset it, will this possibly wipe out the issue and work fine? (that's assuming I don't have a messed up external drive)

4tb Seagate external hard drive

I bought a 2tb external hard drive last year and have had no problems but recently purchased a 4tb Seagate external hard drive due to insufficient storage for my games but the 4tb Seagate external hard drive is listed as media storage ie photos video's and
documents I tried to format and rename it but can't get that option as I can with the 2tb external hard drive please let me know what I can do about this.

 

The August or "summer" update is to blame. Mine has not been readable since then on either Xbox one and Microsoft hasn't given any updates. They just give you the run around with the usual troubleshooting tips, which is cute considering it worked just fine
prior. So, in short we're screwed until the fix it if they even can. I'm almost to the point of reformatting since they seem too incompetent to fix their mistake. The Cortana update is a massive joke anyways.

 

Can back up CelticJarhead. Xbox has a issue with hard drives right now and the Xbox Dev team and mods here on the forums are ignoring it. Sine August my fiance's hard drive has stopped working and we have done everything from factory resets to resetting
the hard drive and losing all of our data. Even went as far to message Major Nelson but he didn't care either. The only "solution" I was given by a tech support guy from xbox was to pay $130 to have my xbox "repaired" by them. The developers rather jut ignore
the people who are experiencing this issue instead of addressing it. Adding pretty diamonds and new sound effects is more important than a working console.

 

plug you hdd in then start the xbox, then when fully started do a restart again and let us know what happens.
