Seagate 1 TB External Hard Drive Disconnect/Reconnect with XBOX ONE

For the past month, my Xbox One has been unable to read my external hard drive. The hard drive will appear for limited amounts of time and then disappear. Within games and apps, most of my games are on the external hard drive and with be visible and then
randomly disappear. I have had no problems with this hard drive for over a year. This just recently became a problem. Xbox Insider said this could be an issue and the work around was installing the games on the internal hard drive, but that would take hours,
I lack the necessary space, and the external will not allow me to transfer them before disconnecting itself. Along with this, some of my games on the hard drive have disappeared altogether and do not show up on the xbox no matter the recognition of storage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Serious External Hard Drive Issues for Xbox One

I am finding this as well. playing video. and after a while hard drive gets dropped its annoying. Seagate backup plus slim.USB 3.0 1 TB external hard drive.

Media Player not recognising External HDD

If this is the case and they are aware of the issue with this preview build then the info they gave you will be the best info to follow.

You might try other ports on the console or test the drive on another console to ensure that the console is the issue and not the drive.

If those steps do not work then the best course of action is to wait until the next preview build update is released and they correct the issue.

ok. Thanks. I tried the different ports thing with no luck. I also tried leaving Xbox insider and reverting my Xbox back to the released version and it didn’t help.

I’ll try a different Xbox if I gain access to one.

Sounds like the best course of action is to keep in touch with the Insider program through their forum.

Keep in mind that leaving the program does not revert the console, you would still need to wait for the next update for the console to become standard once more.
