Sea of thieves won't start on my brand new Xbox one digital

I just pirchased an xbox one digital edition,loaded sea of thieves on it, and the game goes no further than the sea of thieves splash screen. I have performes a hard reset. That did not work. I removed my profile, hard reset, and loaded my profile again.
That did not work. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, and that did not work. I have checked for game and system updates. No updates exist. Should I simply return the console and cut my losses, or is there aomething else that I should do?

I performed the steps that you outlined. I held the power button for 8 seconds, until it powered off. I then unplgged the xbox for 5 minutes. Plugged the xbox back in and powered on. I am still stuck at the sea of thieves opening graphic.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

my platform is xbox one X and i own it digitally and the game is sea of thieves

If you preordered digitally through Xbox, you won't receive a code. You would already be able to download it. It would either show up in your ready to install area or you'll need to search for it in the store.

If you preordered it from a retailer, you'll need to contact the retailer you purchased it from for assistance.

I pre ordered online and I installed the pre order Sea of Thieves AND the pre ordered Sea of Thieves Closed beta. I have two Sea of Thieves in my Games folder now on Xbox One...and neither of them will let me in to the closed beta which started at 4am PST.
So I assumed you needed a code, which I don't have.

I get ones for xbox none have failed me yet. I currently use the sea of thieves branded one.
