Sea of Thieves latest update won't download

Sea of Thieves just released a huge cross-platform 10+GB update on 3/27, right? My friends could not see the update in the Microsoft Store, but after uninstalling the game and reinstalling, the game reinstalled with the update, changing the game size from
9.1GB to 18.7GB.

I can not see the update in the UPDATES section or the Microsoft Store, so, as my friends suggested doing what they did that worked for them, I uninstalled the game. When I went to reinstall it said the game size was 18.7GB, but after it was finished downloading
and installing it went back to 9.1GB.

I was chatting with support for literally over 2hrs last night. Now I have some weird Microsoft account they made for me without my knowledge linked to my main e-mail that apparently they can't delete without screwing up my actual Microsoft acct I've had
for 6+years..

Then they had me factory reset my Xbox, promising I would not lose any data(yes I specifically asked), and although I knew I would probably lose the data, since they assured me I wouldn't, I did the reset. And I lost 12GB worth of years of pictures and vids
and various other data I can't get back now.

After the reset did not change the fact I can't see an update available, the support person referred me to a supervisor, who basically started reading generic jargon about the Beta and the Insider Program and that since my Xbox is not giving Sea of Thieves
an update option, that must mean I'm wrong and there is no update.

When I asked the supervisor,

"Then why when I went to reinstall the game it said it was downloading 18.7GB of data, but after the download it only downloaded 9GB? That should be proof that it is recognizing there is additional info to download, it's just not downloading it.."

The supervisor responded with :

"Game file sizes are estimations, so it was just estimating the size of the download to be 18.7GB, but after downloading it didn't need to estimate anymore and had the exact download size of 9GB.."

In all of my 7 years of downloading, purchasing, installing and updating hard copy and digital copies of literally hundreds of games, I have NEVER seen a file size "estimation" be off at all, let alone be off by 9 freaking GB!

I told the supervisor my friend actually sent me a screen shot of them downloading the update on their Xbox 1, showing that the updated game changes the game size from 9.1GB to 18.7GB. The supervisor then said they were going to send me an e-mail so that
I co uld send them that screen shot.

At this point it had been literally over 2 hours of talking with support, and them creating a whole new mess of problems and just, I don't know, it seems they must have thought I was making it all up since they needed me to send them a screen shot of what
I was trying to tell them, which is basically saying, "I need you to send me proof because I don't believe you because I really don't know what I'm talking about".

I finished the support chat, I am extremely unhappy I wasted that much time with them, and now I have multiple other problems that were created by the support team.

I verified with my friend, they have Xbox Game Pass, so do I, that's how they purchased their digital copy, that's how I purchased mine. They are NOT a member of the Insider Program, and neither am I. They also have the same exact type of Xbox. They were
able to update Sea of Thieves, although they had to uninstall the game before they could update it.

But I can NOT update the game. And I know there is a huge update to the game that pretty much doubles the whole Game! The problem is obviously with Microsoft Store, not with me, the game or the XBox, but no one here at Microsft "Support" is willing to help,
only to create additional problems, then pretty much say they don't believe me and then that they can't help with the additional problems they created.

I need someone to either tell me for sure that:

1) there is NO update to Sea of Thieves

2) There IS an update or

3) Someone knows wtf is going on

Pre Ordered Sea of Thieves Can't download Beta

I preordered sea of thieves and downloaded the insider app and I don't have the option to download the test scale beta for sea of thieves. Please help asap.

 

I did not recive the ebon flintlock from the 10Th of march mixer stream.

You should see that content appear in your vanity chest, clothing chest, equipment chest, and armory in-game 7 to 10 days from the latest stream.



Keep in mind that at this time the Sea of Thieves devs have promotional content turned off and it may not appear in-game until the issue with that content is fixed.

oh. And this Gamertag is the gamertag that Microsft automatically generated when I started the support chat, without my knowledge or consent, and I was told by support that if they try to delete it, it will also delete my 7 year old Xbox
account and gamertag.

Sorry to hear about all the confusion with the phone team.

There was indeed an update on the 27th or March, we can assure you of that.

To be sure we have all the info can you provide the following:

• Photo of when you manage the game on your console.
• Does the game launch and connect without issue?
• Are you using an external hard drive with the console?
• Is the console plugged into a power strip or surge protector?

We are sorry to hear about the loss of data the support agent should have informed you that anything not a game or stored in the cloud would be lost upon reset. We hope this info will assist you in the future.

As for the additional account created, all Microsoft Accounts have a Gamertag associated with them upon creation even if not chosen by the account creator. this would indicate that you have another Gamertag you did choose which most likely has a different
email address connected to it. You can only ever have one Microsoft email associated with a GT at a time.
