Thanks for letting me know. It may be possible that antivirus software could be blocking this game. Here are some tips from the Sea of Thieves official support article

Anti-Virus Issues
Make sure you do not have other programs like

• Anit-virus
  
• Firewall
  
• PC Optimizers
  

Blocking the game. You could try whitelisting the game with your anti-virus product. There are known compatibility issues with some antivirus products that we are working with the anti-virus vendors to resolve. If you experience an issue with a specific product, please let us know.

To whitelist Sea of Thieves, navigate to the game’s installation folder from within the whitelist page of your antivirus product. To get the installation folder, press Win+R on your keyboard and type Powershell and press Enter. Then enter this command:

Get-AppxPackage *SeaOfThieves*

Or if you are having issues with the Pioneer version of the game:

Get-AppxPackage *Wasserburg*

It should print out several lines. You can copy the Installation Location value from the start of C:\ to the end of the line by highlighting it with your mouse and then right-clicking in the window to copy it. You can then paste this into the Open Dialog by pressing in the text field at the bottom and pressing Ctrl+V then pressing Enter. From here you should navigate by double-clicking the folders for Binaries then UWP64, then finally selecting SotGame.exe, which is the executable you need to whitelist.

Note: This process will need to be done each time the game is updated should your antivirus conflict with our game.

If the Antivirus blocker is not the issue, please try downloading the games from the Microsoft Store app instead. Additionally, confirm that you are on the most updated version of Windows (including all optional updates).

If you are downloading the game from the Microsoft Store and still encountering the issue, please follow the steps below to reset the store.

Reset Windows Store app

• Open Run in Windows 10 by pressing the Windows Key and R on your keyboard at the same time.
  
• After that, type wsreset.exe inside the dialog box and press enter.
  
• This will launch the wsreset.exe application. And as the name says, this app resets the Microsoft Windows Store in Windows 10 fixing any issues related to it. The Windows Store app will reset and open. After reopening, please navigate to the three ellipses on the right (…) and check for updates.
  

If the problem persists, you can reinstall the app via PowerShell. Please take the upmost caution when entering commands into the PowerShell.



Reinstall Microsoft Store via PowerShell

• First, open Windows PowerShell in Windows 10 as an Administrator by pressing Windows Key + X on your keyboard and selecting Windows PowerShell (Admin).
  
• Once you’re inside the Windows PowerShell, type Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”} and press Enter on your keyboard to successfully enter this command.
  
• Windows 10 will reinstall the Microsoft Store app on your Windows 10. Restart your computer and check whether the issue got fixed.

Hi thanks for replying too my problem, I am on windows 10 and it says preparing for a about half a second than says error. I have no others drives too install in on and have had no problem installing other games (Back for Blood, Outriders, Etc...)

I will try your solutions now.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues installing Sea of Thieves on PC. I have a few questions about this issue.

• What Operating System are you using?
  
• Does it get to a certain percentage before giving you this error, or does it not install at all?
  

Here are some troubleshooting tips I can recommend in the meantime:

Solution 1: Check your ISP

It could have difficulties downloading due to connection errors.

1. Unplug your modem from the wall for about 1m.
   
2. Plug it back in and wait for everything to connect again
   

Solution 2: Download to different location

If you have an external hard drive, you can see if saving it there remedies the issue.

1. Open Settings on your device using one of the following options:
   
   • Select the link in the “Selected drive is not set up to install games” message
     
   • Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type settings, and then select it from the list
     
2. Select System > Storage, and then select Change where new content is saved under More storage settings (Windows 10) or Advanced storage settings (Windows 11).
   
3. Under New apps will be saved to, choose the drive to which you want to save the game content.
   

Note that some games like Forza Horizon 5, Age of Empires IV, and Back 4 Blood require NTFS-formatted storage drives to successfully complete the installation.

Solution 3: Reinstall the Gaming Services app on your Windows 10/11 device:

1. Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
   
2. In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
   
   get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
   
3. In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
   
   start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
   
4. Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
   
5. Restart your device and try to install the game again.

What is the error code you get in Sea of Thieves.

It says it cannot move sea of thieves and gives me the error code 0x80073d0d.
