Sea of Thieves account issue

Hi,

On Sea of thieves launch I bought the game twice for my 2 sons on there Xbox. Now that its at 50% off I picked it up so I could play on my PC and cross play with them. But when I login into the game it logs me in as my eldest sons Xbox users and the tells
him that he cannot use it. So I have paid 3 times but can only play on 2 machines. On my Microsoft account I am logged into Xbox as my very old Xbox account that is no longer used.

I know there must be some account issue at my end but I cannot work it out.

Please help.

Sea of thieves decided to uninstall itself for some reason over night, making it so that I cant play Sea of Thieves today due to the long download time.

If I buy Sea of Thieves on Steam, can I play with the same account as on the xbox app version? That way I wont need to deal with the Xbox app or its version of Sea of Thieves.
