  1. Screen Turns Black When I Try To Play Mass Effect 3

So recently I've been replaying ME3. Like... I restarted 2 days ago, and it was fine. But today when I turned on my Xbox 360 Slim to play it it suddenly wasn't working.

Let me lead up: One, my xbox turned on fine. There was no black screen UNTIL I clicked on the gameplay icon to load Mass Effect from the disc. I turned my 360 off. I unplugged the cables and plugged them back in. I turned it back on and cleared my cache.
Nothing. Nada. The moment I tried starting Mass Effect again it was black screen for me.

About a week ago I was having problems with the box cord, where it was red and at first wouldn't turn on, then when the Xbox 360 turned on there was sound by no image. It eventually fixed itself after I unplugged everything and left it alone for about an
hour and I was working fine when I played Fallout 3 for the next week or so. I'm planning on replacing the box cord when I have money. Is it the box cord, do you think that's causing this problem? Is it the game? I don't know certainly. I've heard of other
people having s similar error, but I was under the impression it happened AFTER they tried to load a file. This happens the moment I try to start the game from my dashboard.

I'm 100% certain it's my console, since I just tried loading Borderlands and it's having the same issue.

    Anyways, any insight would help.

If it helps, I've had this console about 2 years give or take. It was refurbished and seemed to be in pretty good condition when I got it.

    :)

  2. Mass Effect 3 Disk 1/2 Going dark directly after omni-tool Bioware logo screen.

I awoke this morning to begin my second play through of Mass Effect 3. I have currently logged 12 hours on the game and beaten it. When I loaded my 360 of which I purchased in 2010 when they began making the sleek black ones, the screen froze, inhibiting
all functionality directly before the title screen of Mass Effect 3. I have called Bio-Ware support and they decided to refer me here. How can this issue be resolved?

Mass Effect 2 gives "disc unreadable" error when signed in to Xbox Live

I am having the exact same problem. I was able to get to the main menu once, where it informed me that all my DLC was corrupted and needed to be re-downloaded. So I did this. Now, when I press "Start" the screen pans back and goes black... and then the disc
    read error pops up.

What's even more odd to me is that Mass Effect 1 and both discs of Mass Effect 3 play just fine. This error is only with Mass Effect 2. More specifically, from the Trilogy Pack that came out. I'm going to try uninstalling everything Mass Effect 2 and go
from there, but any additional advice would be much appreciated.

  4. Screen Turns Black When I Try To Play Mass Effect 3

Hey there, pink! Seems there are others that are having the same issue. Try these for me:

    1). Restart your console.

    2). Clear cache 3 times: support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

3). Remove and then redownload your profile: support.xbox.com/.../delete-xbox-live-profile-from-xbox-360-console

4). Launch a downloaded or installed game from the hard drive.

5). Restart console no matter the result of the previous steps and try relaunching another game that is downloaded or installed to the hard drive.

6). Try a different profile that is Xbox Live enabled. (Could be a gold or a silver profile, just not a "local only" profile)

7). Try removing the hard drive: support.xbox.com/.../add-remove-hard-drive and next install a game to a USB drive and then launch the game to
see if the results differ with a new storage device.

8). Remove and then reinstall the latest system update by going to (Settings> System> Storage> Highlight but do not select your hard drive> Press LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X > Then follow on-screen prompts)

9). Test one more time after the system update has completely reinstalled.

10). Test your account and a game on a different console if you have one available to you to test with.

    __________________________________________________________________________________________

If these steps are not able to help, please provide the following info in your response post:

1). What Dashboard OS version is your console on? (Settings> System> Console Settings> System Info)

2). What model Xbox 360 console do you have? (Ex: Original Xbox 360 Model console, Xbox 360 S model console, Xbox 360 E model console, etc.)

3). On what date did this behavior start happening?

4). Is this only happening with downloaded or installed games on the hard drive or does this happen with disc based games as well?

5). Does this happen on all Xbox Live enabled accounts on this console?

6). What model hard drive are you using? (Ex: Internal 4GB hard drive on a S model console, 320GB removable hard drive for Xbox S & E model console, etc.)

7). Are the recommendation sections on the dashboard not populated with content and instead filled with a continuous spinning circle?

8). Does the workaround of turning off auto sign-in, launching the game first, and then signing in after the game has launched work 100% of the time?

9). Does the same behavior occur on a different console if you were able to test with your profile?

10). Does the same behavior occur while both online and in offline mode?

11). When you get to step 5 in the troubleshooting flow, does the console then loop back into the same behavior?

12). When you get to step 9 in the troubleshooting flow, does the console loop back into the same behavior?

13). If you do still receive a black screen after all the troubleshooting steps, does the console freeze if you then press the guide button?

Please respond below with your findings and we can take further steps from there if needed. Thanks!

  5. I would, but now my Xbox 360 is turning on with no sound or video. I guess I'll have to figure THAT out again before I try anything else.

Screen Turns Black When I Try To Play Mass Effect 3

    Hi all,

As we continue to look in to this issue, we have found a good amount of success with performing these steps in this specific order. Let's go ahead and all try this out and see if it is able to help.

1). Power cycle the console (turn the console off and back on)

2). Clear the system cache 3 times in a row

3). Power console off, remove all USB accessories, Memory cards, Kinect (if attached) and
    hard drive
, then try launching a disc-based game that does not require hard drive

4). If still failing, remove the profile ONLY (do not delete items associated
with your profile when asked) and then re-download the profile

If this does not help resolve the issue though, please provide the following info for us to pass along to the proper teams:

1). What model console and hard drive you are using? (ex: S model with a 250GB HDD, Original model console with a 20GB HDD, etc.)

2). When did you first notice this behavior? (ex: 7-29-2014 at 3:30PM EST)

3). What games/apps have you recently downloaded around the same time this issue started occurring?

Thanks for trying all this out and sticking in there with us at this is looked in to!
