  1. Screen Time limits not working for son on XBox One

This is a long running issue, but I've still no resolution to it, so am looking for fresh ideas.

Essentially, my son can play on the XBox One as long as he likes, as it does not end his session when the window of time defined for his XBox One screen time on a given day is exceeded.

I've tried the following with no success:

    • Deleting all entries from the XBox One screen time and disabling every day
    • Recreating periods each day in XBox One screen time
    • Disabling having separate PC and XBox One screen time schedules, and using a combined schedule
    • Removing his XBox one account from the XBox, rebooting it and then readding him again

Anyone got an other ideas how to get this working again, as it used to work many months back. Deleting his gamertag and creating a whole new profile is really the very last option, and one that won't go down well at all.

    :)

  2. Screen limits for parent account

Hi - I set up screen time restrictions for my son on Xbox, however, he was playing under my gamertag due to content restrictions so now the screen limit restrictions aren't working. Am I able to put screen limits on a parent account? I was going to push
him back to his gamertag, but we have spent a lot of money under mine and don't want to start over. I just recently found out about screen time limits, so now I'm trying to retrofit everything. Hoping you have another suggestion! Thanks

My son is able to skip time restrictions on Xbox

Hello. I restricted screen time on Xbox for my son, but he was able to use Xbox beyond time limits by creating a new account and using it.

Do you know if it is possible to make time restriction working even if he creates a new account?

    Thank you

Screen time will only update on the console if the user signs out of his account and then back in.

So adding time on will force them to sign in again, but reducing the time will not work, as they are already signed in and then and only when the time runs out will the account sign out.

So remember for your changes to actually take place you need to sign the account out and back in for changes to be recognised.

Took me a little bit to understand this as well.

Also if you go to the Xbox and extend the time unlimited, it will stay that way until the account is signed out.

I always add time on, so the Xbox never gets stuck in the unlimited time mode.

Also make sure he doesnt know your pin code, it unique per xbox. My son set unlimited time by using the pincode I had on my account, now I only add extra time via my pc through the website.

Microsoft family time limit across all games.

The current options are virtually useless, especially for kids that have an xbox and a gaming PC that they use for school work.

Having to have 2 accounts for my son, one for gaming (with a screen time limit) and an account where I'll block games, with no limit.

It's naff though, a cumulative games limit would be far far better

    Screen Time Limits Not Working

    Hi there,

to be sure check if the Screen time settings are correct at: https://account.microsoft.com/family/

After that have your son's account Sign out and Sign in again on the console.

Also be sure to have the console do a full power cycle via the following steps:

try the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait until the power supply light turns and remains orange for at least 30 seconds before powering on again:

    Let us know the results

    screen time limits not working

I have tried all of those things but it still won’t work. I have signed out of everything, my account and child’s. We have restarted everything as well. No updates are needed. It worked fine until yesterday.
