    Screen Resolution too wide

I haven't played my xbox one for over a week. I have a 1080p lcd tv. I've had the xbox one since March and have had no problems. The system is connected by hdmi.

When I turn it one the text is way to wide (not too tall) but just longer. Like it set up for a 21:9 screen instead of 16:9. So I go into the display settings and since I cannot see anything on the left or right side of the screen. I try changing options.
When I get it changed to DVI as the output. Everything is back to normal, except there is no sound output. So when I try to change it back to hdmi or auto select. At 480 it fills the screen fine, but is very grainy. When I change it to 720 or 1080 the screen
    is once again too wide.

I've tried a different hdmi cable. A different port. My aspect ratio on my tv is the same. I tried a factory reset. Didn't fix anything. Disconnect all the cables for 5 minutes. Nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

    :)

    All games are suddenly widescreen

If I recall, lowering resolution will bring the display to more of square shape instead of wide screen. I don't exactly recommend that if you do have actually have a HD wide screen TV with HDMI since that would let you get closer to native resolution, giving
you better image and less screen lag still.

    Quick Question

Ultra wide screens like 2560x1080 are not supported by Xbox One, these screens typically use the superior Displayport interface only and do not support the ultra wide resolutions over HDMI. Xbox has no Displayport output only HDMI
so there is a limited pool of displays that could ever use it over HDMI with Xbox.

The first thing to try is going to your Console settings and then, click on "Display and sound". From there, try "Calibrate HDTV". One of the test is calibrating the aspect ratio of your TV. Check if everything is right.

Then, from your TV, check if there is somewhere a setting to change your image format (generally, you can change it to Auto, 16:9, Enlarged, 4:3, zoomed, ...). Checked if it's set to 16:9. Before doing that be sure to set your TV input to the HDMI input
    where your Xbox is connected.

When I try the "Calibrate hdtv" There is no aspect ratio section. It only show's different settings I should change on my tv for brightness and other color settings. My tv only has 2 settings wide and dot by dot. and when I change to either. It makes the
    screen too wide.

Try changing between the the picture setting such as 4/3 19/9 etc. You will probably find it's something called TV overscan if you Bing/Google search this you could find this is your issue.
