    So I recently bought a series s and I have a 1080 144hz monitor and I’ve been wanting to use the 120 hz mode on my series s but every time I try to enable it, it just goes black and it won’t enable the setting. I read on some other forums if I change it from 12bit to 10bit would help and other stuff but it just goes black. Also another post said that it could be that some monitors have will actually have a weird refresh that Xbox won’t recognize so maybe that’s my issue. I’m seriously considering on returning my series s because of it. I know I could buy another monitor but it’s not really worth it since the monitor is perfectly fine.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately it's not a great monitor for high refresh gaming as it tops out at 60Hz over HDMI and does not support FreeSync adaptive refresh technology.

    Hi,

    Can't promise I can fix or otherwise find out what the problem is, but could you please provide the make and model of your monitor please?

    In regards to a 'weird refresh rate' it's typically a custom refresh rate. Since console gaming on monitors is a relatively new 'thing' these days monitor manufacturers haven't been catering for high refresh rates over HDMI and sticking to VESA approved refresh rates. Not really a problem for PC graphics hardware as they can use these custom refresh rates without issues, but unfortunately Xbox console's can't.
