Screen freeze every 2 seconds with 2d message on cable box

My xbox one has worked perfectly for my tv until about a week ago, when it started to jump constantly between resolutions. Nothing I tried worked to fix that issue so I went to Time Warner Cable and got them to give me a new Cisco 8742HDC cable box, and
when I plugged that cable box in, now I get no sound and every 2 seconds the video on the screen freezes and my cable box has changes from showing the time to showing 2d, then flashes back to the time and the video works for another 2 seconds and that cycle
repeats. If I plug the cable box directly into the TV it works fine, but I really want to have it plugged into the $500 machine that I purchased a year ago. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this error?

Xbox One TV App not working

Time warner cable Cisco Explorer 8642HDC box. Click on app, get black screen, eventually we've lost signal. On the cable box I get "2d"displayed and it goes back and forth from 1080 to 480. The xbox powers the cable box on and off just fine and when I
reset the cable box the cable boxes boot screen was displayed. Any help?

 

TV Signal Freezes

Same issue here. Freezes every so often for a couple seconds and then jumps back to resuming live TV. I have Time Warner Cable with Scientific Atlanta 8300HD box. Currently, TV is pretty unwatchable.

 

I have this exact same situation but I am using a TiVo. No sound and the same pause cycle. I can also plug my TiVo irectly into the TV. I'm anxious for a resolution because I've beco,me a accustomed to the pass through functionality. Until this is resolved,
I cannot use LiveTV.

I am in the Xbox preview program. It appears they changed something with the last patch to my system..

 

Count me in on the exact same problem. Cisco box going through xbox. Just started having the exact same problem this weekend. I have day one xbox one. Unhooked cable box and put it on separate input and wala works again. Hope xbox figures this one out!

Same problem. Using AT&T Uverse, Which has it's own issues with xbox as well. But for about a week now we have been having some really bad freeze/no audio issues, during the last few days, I have been getting a lot of "Lost signal" errors.

Coincidentally, my cable box has been receiving quite a few updates lately.

 

I have the same issue as well. When I switch the tv sound output from sterio to surround sound the sound issue fixes for a little while but eventually reverts to no live tv sound, but sound for everything else. The screen freezing issue occurs no matter
what and is a huge pain. I have the Element-4605HDC time warner cable box and it works perfectly fine when plugged directly into the tv

 

i chatted with support on this issue and they told me it was a known issue and that it should be fixed in an upcoming update. That was several days ago. I haven't seen an update applied to the console since 11/25. I'm hoping Xbox Support was just feeding
me the easy answer and that this will be fixed.

I suppose it's comforting to hear that I'm not the only one with this issue. Although not much.

 

Same issue with Time Warner and Cisco 8742HDC. Works fine after I reboot the Xbox though which rules out HDMI cable issues. I turn off my TV overnight and every morning I have to restart the Xbox in order to watch TV. I just tried putting the cable box
resolution at 720p instead of 1080i - maybe that will do the trick. The 2d switching back and forth could have to do with the Xbox not supporting 1080i. But then again something with the handshake resets after the reboot of the Xbox and everything works
as it should. I'm not sure if after idle time there is a time out and the handshake has to be re-established and it repeatedly fails? In summary, I have no idea what's going on or how to fix it. Fingers crossed on a fix from MS!

 

I am having the exact same issue. Doing HDMI passthrough from my Comcast X1 box to the XB1. picture freezes. Also there is no audio. I reset the cable box video out put to 1080p/60 and surround audio. This does not make any difference. The cable works fine
going directly to my TV or receiver. Issue only presents itself on the XB1.

 

Found the fix! Go to Settings/Network/Advanced Settings/Alternate MAC Address, Select 'Clear' and then select 'Restart'. This absolutely fixed the issue for me.

 

@bionicgruen, were you having these symptoms immediately or did they only surface when the Xbox has to wake up from standby or instant on?

 

@bionicgruen, thanks!!! My parents had this issue on BrightHouse with a Cisco 8742HDC and this immediately fixed it. I have no idea why a MAC address conflict could cause an issue with 3D/2D autodetection from the cable box but that worked : ) Clearing
the MAC settings must force some kind of hard interface reset on the Xbox One.

My dad was also able to temporarily fix this issue by power cycling the Cisco 8742HDC cable box, but he had to do that at least once a week.

 

The MAC address solution has improved things for me as well. Has been saving me from having to restart the Xbox whenever I want to watch TV.

Not sure if it's a full, complete, fix but it's certainly better. Thanks for the suggestion!
