Screen flickers then disappears whilst playing a game

Hi,

Thought I'd ask coz I can't find an obvious solution to the problem.

I'm playing my xbox 360 slim quite happily for 1 1/2-2 hrs then the screen starts flickering, then eventually goes "No Signal". Whilst it's flickering the game is still playing quite happily in the background with no issues.

I've cleaned the vents on the console to see if this works, but doesn't have any effect.

I've noticed the vent on the top of the console gets very hot.

I also tried resetting the display settings, but that didn't work either.

The console is connected to my tv via HDMI

I'd like to know if this is a fault with the console and should I send it back to get it repaired? It's still well within the 12 months initial warranty.

Any USEFUL help would be appreciated.

Screen flickering

While playing, the screen jumps, and flickers. I restart the game, it works for a short time, then does it again. It's getting frustrating trying to play the games.

 

XBOX 360 Hardware issues?

Problem with my xbox 360 and I cant figure it out. They system boots up with out a game, get the xbox screen and menu, when playing a game (have tried many) the screen distorts after a while, flickers and breaks up, pixelates and it drops the remotes. It
plays moves ok so its not the dvd or tv. Also lost all of the saved games. Any ideas or things I can try?

 

Have you tried using a different hdmi cable or using composite cable to see if the same thing happens?

 

Try using it on anougher TV I have had this problem before and it turned out to be the TV, if not try new cables and moving the console to a clear area with plenty of fresh air. If all else fails back to the shop with it!

As stated in the above posts.

It`s the best way to determine where the fault is, the console, TV or HDMI cable.

I had something similar awhile back and it turned out to be the cable had gone faulty.
