    Screen flickering/lag on Samsung monitor, mostly on video apps - Xbox Series X


    Ever since I got my Series X, I've been having a pretty annoying issue (Mostly with video apps, but it'll happen once in a blue moon with games too.) On Disney+ and the Movies and TV apps specifically, the monitor briefly flickers white and causes the footage to lag in place before continuing on and repeating the process ad nauseam. For whatever reason, this almost never happens with games. But when I boot up video apps and sometimes the Microsoft Store, it'll just continually do this.

    I've tried every solution offered to similar issues on (Disabling FreeSync, enabling YCC 4:2:2, even updating my monitor's firmware) and none of them worked aside from maybe reducing the frequency of the issues by only a hair.

    Is anyone else having the same issue or found a fix for it? Because after the many times I've tried to watch The Mandalorian on my monitor and fiddling with it only to just give up and watch on my phone, I'm getting very annoyed.

    I was just reading an article about this and Samsung wanting that compatibility on the series x. I would definitely upgrade to an ultra wide monitor. I could still use my current monitor with my one x and what not.

    Xbox Series X. 1440p lies.

    Without display 1.4 support there is no reason to target 1440p at 120hz. Only screens are able to do this have 4k 120hz with HDMI2.1.

    Sorry you feel this way, but that is not true. There are compatibility issues with monitors and the Series X/S sure, but there are some monitors that can do 1440P 120Hz via HDMI 2.0 without issues.

    The Five listed here     from Rtings.com can all support 120Hz @ 1440P over HDMI 2.0.

    I have also seen on here that the Samsung G7 can also do 1440P @120Hz effortlessly.

    Just because your monitor doesn't work doesn't Microsoft were lying.

    Also there is a lot more to the Series X than just a fast SSD. It has a GPU at least twice as fast as the Xbox One X and a CPU 3x faster. The Series X also has Raytracing.

    I think the big diference between monitor and TV is the size. I was once told that monitors are better for competitive gaming because it comes with a higher resolution and is more responsive. But honestly I don't see the difference. I use a Samsung Curve
    monitor and the specs are

    1920 x 1080

    4ms response time

    60hz

    Free Sync/Flicker Technology

    32 inchesinches

    Also I have a Samsung Curve TV. I am using the monitor for my "gaming" room. When I play on my monitor it seems like the gameplay shows the same on my TV. So I dont know!

    Im running a Samsung 50" 6400 series plasma. Excellent color, bright screen, no burning issues, no lag issues either.

    Great gaming tv, IMO.
