Screen flashes trying to start apps of games

Yesterday Xbox one started doing this https://streamable.com/ay4w does it for games & app...tried hard reset, unplugged for 10
min, signed out and back in...just won't launch anything

Help - can't swipe onto control panel for factory reset!

Please help - my games weren't playing as I kept getting message that game was taking too long. Trying to do a factory reset but Xbox one won't swipe to the control panel (it just flashes). The home screen swipes left and right just not onto the control/login/games
and apps panel (left side of home screen). I have done a hard reset lots of times but no change.

AWESOME update! So should the media player app work tomorrow when I try plugging in a flash drive? I need to finish season six of Sons of Anarchy before the new season starts on September 9th.

 

Try a factory reset. It looks like the operating system is corrupted when you attempt to launch an app or game.. I don't think it is a HDMI cable problem, but it could be that as well.

I'd do a factory reset first.

 

how do I factory reset? does that mean erase games etc and start over?

 

Yes that is what it means. If you have an external drive for your games and apps you can disconnect it and the contents on it will be safe.

However, before going that route I would try everything else. Like changing HDMI cables, try a different HDMI port on the TV (if available) or testing on a different TV. Give some of those options a try and let us know how it goes. Good Luck!

Mine started doing the exact same thing today. Doing factory reset now which I'm guessing will take all weekend based on experience from initial purchase. I will update with results.

What the issue is, is the OS gets corrupted when you attempt to launch an app or game, it tries to launch but gets stuck. Only solution to it is reload the OS and wipe the hard drive clean.
