You should also check out this other semi-general thread another user posted some time ago with a similar problem. Except in place grey image distortion their problem was blue image distortion.

Another good thing to consider and try would be by putting your TV on cable or some other video settings like hooking up a DVD/Blu-Ray player to the TV and see if you experience the grey image distortion in those media styles as well. If you do, consider
editing you TV's picture settings manually by resetting things like brightness, sharpness, and saturation in your TV's settings.

There's also an Xbox Support display troubleshooter you may find handy if the other link and suggestion doesn't aid in solving the problem.

Check HDMI cable and connection.

Clean out any dust/particles.

Is it an old cable?

Next you can perform a power cycle of the console: Hold Power for 10 seconds, then pull power cord from the outlet. Wait 5 minutes. Then re-connect and reboot the console.

I dunno. I've been seeing the tearing for months now. Internet down speed is fine. Monster HDMI cables have a throughput of up to 17mbs. TV is a Samsung 50 inch Plasma with 600mhz refresh. The tearing is very obvious when panning diagonally and the sky or
horizon is in view. Its really annoying. I stopped playing a few months back when we moved, and I was hoping it would be fixed by now. Played a bit today and its still there. Doesn't happen with any other game.

How is this issue still not addressed? We have new maps and now they're working on new game modes and stuff like titan nose art but one of the biggest oldest problems of the game is still not fixed? I can't be the only one disappointed here...

I just bought a new 55" LED 240hz LG tv and now I have problems with this. My 46" Sony LCD 120hz had no issues at all...
