Hi all, is anyone else experiencing screen distortion when playing a regular dvd through the blu ray player, if so a resolve would be appreciated much thanks

Screen Distortion

Hi. I have been having this issue for quite some time, but it seems to progressively get worse. I get some sort of strange screen distortion with my XBox One console. Many green and white pixels flash on my screen and sometimes remain present, as well as
images from the dashboard flickering or just disappearing entirely. This only happens on the dashboard or while searching through apps such as Netflix, StarzPlay, the Marketplace, etc. However, when I start a show/movie or XBox One game, it totally stops.
I have tried different HDMI cables, different TVs (Using a Vizio LCD mainly), hard resets, unplugging the console and waiting. I really have no idea what may be causing this problem or even what would fix it. But if anyone could offer me any kind of insight,
that would be great. Thanks!

 

Hey there Dotchy! Let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

To start off, I suggest performing a hard reboot of your console. To do that:

• Press and hold the power button on the console for 5-10 seconds until the console powers off completely.
  
• Wait at least 60 seconds.
• Unplug the console from the power outlet.
• Wait at least 60 seconds.
• Plug the console back into the power outlet.
• Wait at least 60 seconds.
• Power the console on and try connecting again.

Thanks for replying to my question, I've followed the steps you've outlined for me with no joy unfortunately, also I've un-installed the blu-ray app and shut down and restarted the console also with no joy, I should point out I've tried blu-rays in the console
and they work with no problem only having the issue with DVDs, I'm welcome to any more ideas on a fix if there is some

Thanks for getting back to me! To clarify, what sort of screen distortion are you seeing? If possible, please take a video of what you're seeing so that we can see exactly what you see.

Also, how many DVDs have you tried? Have you tried multiple different DVDs to see if the issue doesn't lie with one specific DVD?

Thanks for helping me on this matter, I've tried several different dvds all with the same results except for one that had a smaller aspect ratio on screen.

I have video'd the distortion but how do post it into this thread?

 

And I've just noticed whilst writing the other thread that I'm getting small flickers of the same distortion on the xbox hub without a disc being in the drive and just the blu-ray player app in the main box just being idle, I'll try and record some of this
as well but seams very unpredictable

I have a couple follow-up questions for you to help us understand your setup:

1. Do you have a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) or Capture Card of any kind hooked up to your console?
   
2. What is the exact setup you've used for your Xbox One console? What is plugged into the console or into the TV?

No got no PVR or capture card, I've used the setup that comes as standard with the xbox one, got turtle beaches plugged in via usb and optical but thats the only extra in the xbox, television is quite standard setup as well, soundbar via optical cable and
wii

 

I have the same issue when I play any dvds. The screen goes all jumpy. Makes you feel sea sick. Even the home page dies this when the dvd is playing. But is OK with blue rays. Any ideas on how to solve this issue. As don't really want to use the other games
console for this. (ps4). Xbox one is the better one.
