    Screen dims after 15 minutes of watching videos since NXOE update was installed


    Ever since the NXOE update was installed on my console, when I watch a video the screen dims until I move the controller buttons or joystick.

    I have did these:

    1. Hard resets

    2. Factory reset

    3. hdmi cable swap

    4. update hardware

    I contacted support and they mention they are going to look into this via software bug troubleshooting. I also have noticed this is a common issue with the new update among many people. I also noticed the Kinect no longer uses the motion sensor to keep the
    console awake, if I step away from the room and view of the camera sensor, and the console dims down for the screen saver, it no longer brightens back up once I return to the room. I have to use the controller to wake it back up.

    Movies & TV App Bugs

    As of the Nov 20th update there are two major bugs on the Movies & TV app.

    1. Screen dims as if going into power save mode while watching a movie (after about 10-15 minutes), pressing a button or moving the stick undims the screen

    2. During panning or motion scenes there is frame hitching/jerky motion. This is a constant regardless of the network speed or type, happens on every console i've tried with the NXOE.

    My Opinions, Thoughts and Concerns.

    They can't dim the screen they want you to have your tv running through it imagine watching you're favorite show and 15 minutes in screen dims because technically it's been idle that whole time

    I don't have a surge protector on the power brick.

    There is no surge protector between the wall and the console. It is plugged directly into the wall.

    I should never have to power down the console by the front power switch either. It should be able to clear the cashe by shutting it down normally.

    My HBO NOW app will dim the screen after watching a movie/episode for 10 minutes or so, and I have to move the joystick or press on the controller to get it to not dim. This only started after the last update. Please fix

    NXOE BUGS & GLITCHES [Sticky]

    I notice several bugs with the NXOE software update:

    1. Controller not syncing with the Kinect. Will sync with the other method.

    2. Screen dims out when videos are played. Seems that the software assumes there is no activity, and places the console to sleep. A hard reset may solve this temporarily, but this is unlike the dim screen at startup. Here, the screen is at normal brightness
    at startup, but will dim after 15-40 minutes of inactivity of the controller. Moving the controller control buttons and joysticks will wake it up and the screen will brighten up automatically. I was told by MS staff when I called them to change out the HDMI
    cable, but I don't think this is the issue. I feel it is a software issue where the operating system assumes there is no activity, where there is with the wifi connection, or drive.

    3. I notice that the Kinect is having a tough time hearing my voice, where before, it operated better.

    I work with disabled kids and sometimes use the xbox one console in teaching them how to do stuff with the console. What I find with the NXOE update, what I used before, particularly with the motion sensor is not there anymore, or if it is there, it is not
    sensitive enough to pick up a small movement of a hand or body. A physically disabled person is limited physically, and using motion sensors that are sensitive in the adaptive section of the system is needed here. A better assistive technology protocol can
    improve this.
