    Screen dimmed?


    Hello everyone I am having some issues with my Xbox One. I did a little bit of research online but nothing has helped and I am trying to avoid having to call Microsoft. From the moment I turn my Xbox One on, the screen is dimmed as if I said "Xbox" and it
    is waiting for a command with the option to "stop listening". However it is not waiting for a command, the screen is just dimmed like that. I have checked my TV settings and restored them to default, used the built in Kinect troubleshooting, and I'm not sure
    what else could be causing this. I'm hoping it's not a serious issue as this would now be the second bad experience I have had with my Xbox one and Microsoft in a very short period of time.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I have yet to tinker around with this myself. What type of monitor do you have for the first one right now? I need to replace my main screen and also at some point my backup computers monitor.

    Viewsonic is not bad and its what I might end up replacing mine with, or I should say the painters who ruined it. Still boots up but has paint all over it and a dead pixel now. That price is not bad either compared to buying brand new.

    Also another thing if this helps, my little brother came over and put his xbox one next to mine, mine was still running and he had plugged his into the other HDMI port on my TV. I didn't notice the issue before that. Is there some kind of connection? I tried
    plugging the HDMI cable into both ports and nothing has changed.

    Sorry to hear about the screen issues. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this issue sorted.



    Please give the following troubleshooting steps a try:



    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and check to see if the issue is continuing to occur.
    • If your screen is still dimmed, try using a different HDMI cable if possible.
    • You can also try plugging your HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your TV.


    Give the suggested steps a try and let us know if you are continuing to experience the issue.

    Thank you for the help I was having the same issue and this fixed it for me after simply doing the power cord step.

    i'm having the same problem.

    I got it to work with the above solution yesterday. This morning back to the dimmed screen on boot.

    Screen dimmed? :(

    I hope this is not because it's a referb

    They can't dim the screen they want you to have your tv running through it imagine watching you're favorite show and 15 minutes in screen dims because technically it's been idle that whole time
