Screen captures lost while offline

Since the start of December until yesterday, I was without internet in my new home. To pass the time, I started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on my Xbox one S. I recorded a lot of really good gameplay clips. Yesterday I finally had internet service connected and could finally log in, and I wanted to share some of those clips. I went to look at the clips, and while at first it showed that there were over 200 clips, when I clicked to open the folder of locally stored clips, there was only the ONE clip I had recorded since getting internet hooked up. Are those clips just gone forever? I assumed that if I was saving clips and had no internet, that the clips would still be there once I did have internet.

The captures were successful though. When I was finally online and the captures tab wasn't greyed out, at the bottom where it said "see all", the number in brackets was over 200. When I clicked it, it showed me the one capture I'd taken since getting internet back. When I went back, it now said "See All (1)". hundreds of successfully recorded captures vanished.

Then the console needs to be redesigned to not punish users for not having internet

Well apparently that's not correct, unless it simply wasn't saving any of my captures at all while I was offline, which I had no way to check because it's impossible to view captures while offline, but it always said the captures were saved successfully. No system reset was performed except for the system update once I had internet again, which appears to be when the system erased all the captures. I'm not even the only one to have this problem of locally stored captures disappearing.

Power cycle didn't help at all. Updating after getting internet connection seems to have caused the problem. As I understand, the system deletes captures after 30 days if they haven't been viewed or uploaded. And of course, without internet, they can't be uploaded, and can't even be viewed, as the capture and share tab is greyed out when there's no internet connection. And I'm pretty sure the system's clock was off by a year because it had had no internet for so long, so once it got internet, it must have decided that ALL the captures stored locally were too old to keep. It seems the system is set up by design to make it impossible to keep captures recorded while without internet service. I've lost 3 months worth of captures because of bad console design. Everything I captured from playing RDR2 beginning to end to 100%.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

You're correct that if your console is offline and you have recorded a clip it will be stored locally, it's odd that they were deleted, what may have caused this issue is if you have reset your console, this will delete them.

Going back, let's try to retrieve them by re-syncing your account by simply performing a powercycle on your console.

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If none of them shows up even on the "Xbox Network" tab, I apologize but there will be no option for us to recover them.
