    I'm really bothered right now. I had a handful of recent screenshots on my Xbox One X that were only a couple of days old and they're all gone now. I spent a lot of time setting up these shots in Far Cry 6 photo mode. I almost never have my console connected to the internet. I connected it today and updated it and Far Cry 6. Also setup the Xbox app so I could access my screenshots from my phone. Went to upload all my recent captures and they were all just gone. They weren't on my hard drive or on the Xbox network. Is there any way at all to reverse this or recover my images?They were special to me and I'm really upset that they're gone.

    I don't have an external hard drive. These were saved to the system hard drive and they definitely saved successfully. Microsoft needs to change it so people can disable this auto delete feature. They shouldn't be allowed to just trash my stuff at their leisure like this. This is a major issue that Microsoft really needs to address. I don't like that they have that kind of control over my personal hardware. Why they thought this was okay or a good idea, I don't know. I don't have this issue on my PC or Playstation 4. Thanks for trying to help, but I don't think there's anything more that can be done here. I honestly think I'm just going to sell off my Xbox now, since I don't have full control of it. I'm afraid my stuff will just be invaded and deleted every time I connect it to the internet now.

    I already tried all of those things before submitting my initial post, and the screenshots are still gone. I live in the country and don't have a home internet connection, because none of the options in rural areas are good enough for streaming and online gaming. I can only connect my Xbox to the internet once in a while when I take it to someone else's house.

    What I want to know is why are things being deleted from my personal hard drive without my permission, and what setting do I change so nothing can ever be auto deleted again? Xbox has no right to delete my personal data off of my device like that ever, and I honestly feel extremely violated right now.

    The screenshots that were deleted were literally 2 days old, and I don't understand why they were automatically deleted when I never gave permission for them to be. I'm very frustrated right now and I doubt I will even try to record screenshots and clips anymore, because I know they're just going to automatically delete the next time I'm able to connect to the internet, so it's completely pointless.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

    Please try to perform a powercycle on your console to re-sync your data however it after the powercycle your captures are still not there, I apologize but we don’t have an option to recover it.

    I would really recommend always uploading it to Xbox Network so that you won’t lose it locally.

    I apologize for the trouble but Microsoft does not have an option to delete or manage our account or console settings especially game clips that was saved locally. There is a possibility that it was not successfully saved or there are changes that was made wherein deleted the clips.

    I would recommend setting up your external hard drive again to be used specifically in saving captures that you have made. For your reference, you can check this link: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/games-apps/...

    I really apologize for the trouble that this has caused. It’s really not normal to happen for a game clip to be deleted when we connect to Xbox Network they should always still be there even clips that were uploaded to Xbox Network already should still be visible on our console storage.
