    @Truth, it is nothing about superiority, it is about common sense and responsibility. A customer tossed his paper work, that isn't no ones fault but his own. For him to say MS scammed him because of his ignorance.... that is slander..

    @Rippen oh ok well I sent my Kinect (2.0 version not 360 version) in December and it was all paid for.

    Is this a recent change?

    One of the rare times I actually feel for the OP. LOL at everyone saying he scammed himself and this one isn't microsofts fault.

    Support told him that the controller was most likely lost at the repair facility.

    I thought about sending in the defective day one controller that came with my day one console but I couldn't get through to support. Then when I did, I got disconnected. Then when I reconnected they told me they wouldn't be able to help me submit a claim
    that day because the system was down....Combine that with paying for shipping and I decided to buy a new controller. I expected some issues with a new console launch so it really didn't bug me that much.

    COD.... the guy sends in his controller on Jan 30th.. waits till March 12th to see what happened to his return...6 weeks mind you...finds out his order was cancelled within that time and they cant find his controller... they ask for his tracking information..
    he doesnt have it... he threw it out...

    Yup.. all MS's fault...

    I would have expected the turn around time to be a month+ to send in a controller, have it processed and another sent back out. Combine that with being a busy person I might not have called to check on it in 4+ weeks. I wouldn't have intentionally thrown
    away a receipt, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone misplaced it after a month... especially if he checked the tracking info and saw that it arrived at the microsoft facility.

    It is all microsofts fault that the controller was lost, but he can't prove it....so it becomes his fault. I'm not going to sit here and ridicule someone because they misplaced a receipt for a defective product which was subsequently lost at the microsoft
    repair facility. /my thoughts in this thread

    Maybe it's worth enquiring if they could check any other details at their end. eg. if your name was submitted with the controller, they may have an entry record? Maybe some proof of ID would be enough then, I can't see any reason why not.

    Or maybe there is too much bureaucracy, this is the kind of thing I could see myself doing, but I would expect there to be a way around it.

    Just get a receipt from the post office it's free, and don't throw it away until everything is OK and then keep it for another month. But on a helpful note, can you not share the email you received stating they had it in their possession as proof. I certainly
    would except it if it where me, and they should at least look in to the matter given the evidence.

  10. Wow that blows. Seems there should be some kind of paper trail you can follow to see what happened to it. Do a little investigating.

    @king we live in a digital age now. I thought 'keeping paper work' should be a thing of the past. Had he thrown out his paper work but not needed it, no one would have criticize him for doing that. Nothing new here.

    In all seriousness though, the OP should file a complaint against MS with their local consumer affairs department and get them to deal with it on his behalf. I'm pretty sure he will have a replacement sent in no time. Don't give up and use the system.

    Have you tried contacting someone from where you sent it? They might be able to find the shipping information... in this digital age we live in...

    @Truth, your exactly right, unfortunately now he needs it. No different then any other type of document required to return a product. If I pay interact for something, loose the receipt, Im SOL... my fault, no one else. This situation is a bit different
    since the OP paid for the item and it got lost in transition, but until it gets back from repair, he has nothing else to go on. Paperwork and a paper trail (literal) are still required.
