Saving Games to Different Devices

I have a question about external hard drive support. It's no secret that gamers with extensive libraries like mine will require additional storage space to manage their games. However, it's scary to think that you could lose all progress and saves if
something were to happen to that hard drive. My question is this: is it possible to INSTALL game files onto a large external hard drive, but save your game PROGRESS on the internal 500GB hard drive? This way, even if the worst were to happen to that external
hard drive (like if it were to just die in time) you would simply reinstall the game on a new one and you'll still have all your progress and saves because they are saved to the internal drive. Is this kind of management possible or do I have to rely on an
external HDD exclusively?

Hey there ciaphas! This is an odd one. Let's see what we can do to figure things out.

Can you tell us where you're saving your game to (for example: your hard drive)? I suggest trying saving your game to a different storage device. So if you're saving your game to your hard drive, try saving it to an Xbox 360 formatted USB drive, cloud
storage, etc.

Do you have a memory card or Cloud saving enabled? You can try to select a different device when starting the game. The server stores most of your information remotely, and if it can't find a save file on the device, it creates one afresh using the server
information.

 

As long as you're online, your saves are stored on the cloud. So even if something were to happen to any of the hard drives, your saves would still be intact.
