    No your online character is saved on your rockstar account. The save game makes no difference

    My game save won't transfer.

    The game saves have never transferred. The only thing that could be transferred was your online character, and that was only a one-time switch. The 360 cloud saves are in a totally separate location/server than the One saves.

    It's a reset of stats, not a cloud error.

    I went online last night and I was told to make a new character (apparently I had never been online)

    I just dashboarded it and went back to the game and my character was there.

    This is not the first time this has happened

    NEVER MAKE A NEW CHARACTER unless you are happy with possibly losing your saved one.

    Hmm, is it possible you have a temp character as your save? If you have a temp character, your progress won't save. Further, i want to suggest trying to play online even though you don't see your character but at the same time I don't want it to be overwritten
    if that is a temp character.
