    The game in question is Remnant: From the Ashes (Complete edition)

    I've been attempting to test out backing up my game based on the recommendations I've read about concerns of file corruptions, etc. As my game is the windows store version of the game, the file at C:/Users/Username/AppData/Local/Remnant/Saved/Savegames was always empty, with no .sav or .bak files.

    Instead, I was able to find the save files for my game at C:/Users/Username/AppData/Packages/PerfectWorldEntertainment.RemnantFromtheAshes_jrajkyc4tsa6w/SystemAppData/wgs.

    I went into the folder with a long string of letters, which showed 4 files within. one was named container.254, one had a size of 64 KBs, and two of them were 1900+ KBs in size. I zipped up all of them into a backup folder, then deleted the files within for testing. This resulted in my characters being deleted. I then put all 4 of the files back into the folder, yet the characters were still gone. Checking the folder again showed 2 completely new files, 1 with container.(different number than 254), and a long string of letters at < 10 KB

    I've even attempted to try to name the different backup files to save_0.sav, save_0.bak, profile.sav, and profile.bak and placing them in the Saved/savegame folder, but it also failed to do anything.

    I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall the game and place the files in a fresh game, but a fresh game doesn't have anything in the 'systemappdata' folder, and thus no folder to place the files into.

    How do I restore a save on windows store version of the game? I still have all the backup files.

    In some cases, game save files are stored in a specific location on your PC. Check if SnowRunner has a folder of saved files in a specific directory. You can search online for the default location of SnowRunner save files or check the game's documentation for more information. If you find the save files, you can try restoring them to their original location and see if that restores your progress.

    Check cloud sync If you're using Xbox Game Pass on PC, your saves may sync to the cloud. Check the sync settings in the Xbox app on your PC to make sure cloud sync is enabled. If so, try forcing a sync and see if your save files are restored.

    Hi There,

    Transfering save files between launchers or stores on Windows is possible but from steam to Windows Store games is not as straight forward as copying and pasting the save. Firstly you will need to locate the save files in each launcher, I would recommend
    backing up the save files before attempting it in case something goes wrong and you corrupt the file. You then need to copy the save file from Steam to the Gamepass save file location, once this has been done you need to rename the file and change the file
    extension to match that which Gamepass uses. For example, steams file extension is ".savegame" you will need to remove that. I hope this helps
