Save file completely gone????

So this has happened to me before but it's actually an issue now. I have been playing outer wilds for ages and I finally got really close to the end but I needed to play on my pc for a little while so I did. But when I switched back to my Xbox the next day to play, my save file was gone and it just told me to start a new expedition. This happened before with minecraft. I had to play on a different Xbox for a while and I played a good 2, 3 hours but then all my progress from that time I played was gone after it synced my data. This is really frustrating and upsetting because I had spent so much time and now I just have to restart. Does anyone have any advice? I have restarted the Xbox completely but my save is still gone.

I hope you are doing well today. Welcome to the Xbox Community. Thank you for reaching out to Xbox Forums. You have issues with your cloud save and losing saved data when playing from your console to PC and vice versa. Please allow me 24-48hrs to reach out to one of my team members and further investigate this particular issue and see if there is a suggestion, we can provide to resolve this issue. When you play these two games on the console, do you completely close out and allow the console a couple of mins, maybe 2-3, to upload the saved data? Then when you go to the PC, does a screen come up that it's syncing your saved data?

im having issues with Xbox one aswell even got screen shots of it saying Save/Load fail its bs but from what i seen it all falls onto the cloud surver witch is what is failing us as it only holds a tiny bit of game data and once filled were **** as there
is no way to empty it that i know of atleast and the syncing of the game forces it to reinstall all the saves so it will fail automaticly that is were Xbox 360 was king atleast there we could whipe entire files if stuff like this happened

If you go offline without synching your saved data then the game will be as if you never played it. You'll need to re-synch/download your saved data. It may be worth hard-resetting your console (hold the physical power button for roughly 10 seconds), turning
it back on and try launching your game again. You may need to wait a while for everything to synch but without completing the synchronisation, your game will not have your save to load.

When I start the game, it takes me to the main menu and gives me the option of starting a new game. My last save point is gone because my save file is completely gone. I have tried deleting all of the profiles on my xbox that may have a save file on AC4.
I have also tried rebooting the system. What else can I do?
