  1. Save Data not accessible in-game after it was copied to a flashkey

My husband copied my gamer profile and data to a flashkey while he was logged in under his profile. Now, no matter what I do, I can't access any of my data in-game. It looks like I've never played the game before when I put it in. I've copied everything
back, changed storage devices etc. and no dice. The data isn't corrupted so I'm really not sure what to do. There's YEARS of game play potentially lost here. Can anyone help?

    :)

  2. I'm still very confused about cloud saves....

Thanks for the reply! One last question, once i copied the data from the cloud to the Hard Drive, Is the data always going to save a backup to the hard drive automatically? If so, do i have to select cloud storage when launching the game for that save every
time in order to back it up?

And another thing, i noticed that not all saves can be copied to another storage, only moved. Will these games make it impossible for me to make a backup using cloud?

    Thanks in advance.

Transfer Cable - Moving Platinum Hits Saves?

Original XBOX game saves cannot be copied to USB Memory Units.

They can be Moved between HDDs using a data migration cable.

Sorry to hear it. Try deleting then redownloading your gamertag to the console to see if that helps.

As for the data, if your husband put the flash drive into a computer for any reason the PC would have changed the type of the files to something it could read. This would make those files unreadable by your console and, unfortunately, they would not be
    able to be restored.

When your husband copied your saves to the USB drive while signed into his own profile he would have transferred ownership to himself making the files unusable by your profile

You should be able to use the files again yourself by being signed into your own profile and copying the files again.

Unfortunately though you will no longer be able to earn achievements for those saves

Malacath - you cannot transfer items from one account to another. And with only 1 or 2 exceptions that are allowed by the developer of a game this includes game saves so that information is incorrect.

onyxishere: i have never seen a usb drive get "changed" by connecting it to a pc, but i have seen that with internal hard dives. when you connect a usb drive formatted for xbox 360 storage to a pc and open the folder you will see a folder called Xbox360,
and inside is all the data from the 360 filesystem stored as chunks labelled Data0000, Data0001, etc. i back up those files all the time in case my flash drive dies, or i need to use it for something else. i have successfully "restored the backup" simply
by copying the files back as they were, without again formatting the usb drive with the 360. also she said she was able to copy the files back to the console, but i have another guess as to what may have happened.

Herbwitch: what malacath and onyxishere have said are both sort of correct. when you copy data logged in as another profile, as you said he did, there will be a message stating "By copying or moving this item, you will become the new owner." however in
most cases it will not allow you to perform the copy, giving a message that "This item cannot be transferred between profiles."

if you just go into the storage menu and choose an item to copy it will either copy (if it's an item not assigned to any profile, like a global system save), or it will not allow you to copy at all. however, if you choose the device and press Y for Device
Options, then choose Transfer Content, you can do a mass transfer, selecting as many or few items you want at once. it will allow you to transfer anything without attempting to reassign the ownership because it will sign the current profile out before performing
    the transfer.

either way the best way to be sure is to go into storage and check for the save file of the specific game you are trying to play. it should show the game's name, then when you select it, the items for that game will be listed. your saves should be listed
with the subtitle Saved Game on the left and your gamertag on the right.

what is the reason he copied your data from the main storage device? did he have to format it? some more info would be needed to be sure what happened, but perhaps he tried to copy all your data, ignored the messages about some data not being able to transfer,
and then formatted, leaving you only with global system saves. again i would check the specific games that you lost progress on, and post back letting us know what you find.

It depends on the game. Some games particularly older games allowed this, you even got a warning about having achievements disabled. I used to do it myself with Oblivion to keep saves from previous characters separate from new ones.

Just tested and it still works now. Although when I posted my last post I had forgotten about the Transfer option where you can tick a load of items and have them transfer to another storage device in bulk. If her husband used that option then i dont know
    if that transfers ownership.

From what i am gathering here , I see some files have been swapped to a different format that your Xbox cannot read.

First and Only Question- Why was the profile added to a Flashkey?(USB)

If any type of transfers was going to be made , it would have to be done with an Xbox Labled USB that's compatible. Downloading the account would have been easier, I know there is an issue with downloading accounts with some Xbox 360's . Proper Support
from the Xbox Live Staff would have been recommended . As I Agree with all the above information the recent Users have said. But that Information and Save data has been lost .

she claims to have copied them back. and seen that the data was not corrupted, not sure if she just meant she copied everything that was there or what. but obviously it didn't change to some incompatible format, that just doesn't really happen with USB
flash drives. only thing i can think of is maybe they copied stuff to the flash drive, then to the computer, then formatted the flash drive again, then copied the files to the flash drive when it was not formatted for 360. i guess until we hear anything
back from the OP it's all just speculation.

Speculation as of yet ofcourse , I just know I've had the issue where my Account as been corrupted from just moving it to a flash drive before taking it to a friends house so i didn't have to redo the entire download process. (Which is entirely more safe
then transferring it around threw usb.) , Anything is capable of happening threw an outside source of Microsoft's Scope of support.
