  1. Save Data Location

I've been moving all of my Games over to my new External HDD and I've noticed that my Save Data is listed separately. Now, as any half-knowledgeable gamer knows, your save data is priceless and worth more than anything else on the console. Now, I may need
to decline the new Xbox One update (that I stupidly agreed to) and be "reset to factory standard". I bought the External HDD because of this, but I don't know whether my save data is being moved over or backed up, or where it is located, and I really CANNOT
afford to lose it under any circumstances!

I've never used Cloud Storage or configured it for either my 360 or my Xbox One, so, my question is : Where exactly is my save data located (Cloud Storage (even though I've never chosen to use it), Internal HDD or External HDD?), and how can I ensure that
it remains safe even if I need to have my Xbox One "reset to factory standard"?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

    Question about save files

Game save files can not be transferred between separate profiles.
As to the location of save files, there are 2 separate ones. If you go to the game you want, press start on it, select manage game it'll bring up the game files and on the far right will be the save data. The other save area is in the cloud if your connected to the internet.

  4. Save Data Location

    Hello

Save data for the Xbox One is actually saved on both the harddrive and the cloud, if you move all your content to an external drive it should be moved to that drive as well but the cloud data stays where it is.

If however you should lose your local save data, the next time you boot up the game it will ask you to upload local data or download your save from the cloud. When you click download you will have a copy as local data again as well as cloud based.

  5. Thank you for this answer. I am somewhat concerned that the FAQ states that "if you're an avid gamer, you may run out of Cloud space", but at least I understand the system now.

Obviously losing my save data for ESO (400 hours approx) would be a bad thing, so I need to keep everything in check.

Oh, and it doesn't actually say where my save data is being stored (I think I said this in my original post). So, even when I choose to "Copy All" to my External HDD, I have no idea if it has actually moved across. Something that should probably be modified
    in a future update imo.

Anyway, thanks again for the info.

    Hey there Ephidel,

As FearedNightmare explained, all your saves and data is stored online in the cloud as well as on your storage drive. If you still feel that you need extra protection of your data you can always keep a backup of your saves on another external drive that
is used solely for that purpose. Having data on multiple locations is always a good way to keep it protected. I could suggest checking out WD My Passport X as an option for this:

I deleted my saved data from everywhere yet the game still synced.

I believe that the level is located in the game servers, not in save data.

Can discs pick up the save history from a previously downloaded game

Yes, it will because save data is located in the ball- on the system not the game.
