Salvaging the contents of a corrupted drive.

So while I was out of town apparently my Xbox One decided to try and update itself, even though it was supposed to be turned off. At 69% there must've been a blip in the Internet feed, because it's now frozen at that percentage and unable to boot itself
up. I've followed the instructions for an E200 error and unfortunately it looks like both options that I'm presented with will leave me with all of my saved data wiped from the drive. Roughly only half of my saved data went to an external drive that I hooked
up to the system; the rest is all internal. Is there a way for me to transfer all this saved data to another external source, or otherwise manually install the update, so I don't lose years of hard work?

    :)

    Cannot sign in.

Have you browsed the hard drive for any corrupted contents? Corrupted contents is shown as an yellow exclamation mark.

Weird connection issue which has the tech guys stumped.

Can you view the contents of your hard drive? if anything else in there is corrupted, it could affect your operations.

Anything corrupted will have ( ! ) in yellow on it.

Sounds like your data corrupted on your flash drive. Sadly no way to really salvage it at this point.

If it's not finding the drive then perhaps the drive is dead. Sorry to hear it. You won't be able to retrieve your game saves but you can redownload all your DLC from your download history.

On the console go to Settings>Accounts>Download History.

I picked up a transfer cable and tried it with my Xbox...but the console, or the cable, is not picking up the old HDD. Is the HDD dead, and am I SOL?

    Salvaging Corrupt Harddrive

A transfer cable will transfer all data on the hard drive. When it is transferred you can check the files and remove the one with a yellow exclamation mark.

Be sure that you get an official transfer cable though or you risk ruining the drive and Microsoft does not offer warranty repairs on items that were damaged with 3rd party devices.
