    Sale of Digital Titles [Rumored]

So i'm hearing a lot of rumors atm regarding the "selling" of your Digital Titles BACK for 10% of the original purchase price.

Now, i personally believe this is a great idea, a lot of people probably have an HDD full of digital purchases they no longer play, so the ability to move these on and get back store credit which can be re-used would be a great addition.

    HOWEVER

The 10% doesnt seem fair, in fact, its pretty insulting.

Ok, so atm we cant sell back digital titles, and 10% is better than nothing. But when you consider the price we pay for digital titles compared to the likes of STEAM, it does seem rather insulting to offer only 10% back. Do the math, you purchase/pre order
a title that cost you £59.99, you play the game and dislike it and you dont touch it again for a couple months, your return on that title is only £5.90?! means it would take the -sale- of roughly 10 or 11 already purchased digital titles to be able to purchase
another triple A title from the marketplace.

Honestly, i love the idea, i just think given the price we pay initially, in most cases being more expensive than an actual hard-copy (for some unknown reason) and being considerable more expensive than any other digital store. that 10% is a slap in the face.

    :)

  2. Digital Download codes coming soon

digital rights STILL need adjusting...and where is this digital trade in store option MS rumored prior to launch to help sales? I guess talk is cheap..but it still makes no sense to limit consumer rights just because they want a digital copy vs physical...biggest
scam in this country and others right now..no consumer rights with digital.

why are download games the same price or more than disc.

I get why "New release" digital can't undercut retail pricing. But having sales on newly released games should be perfectly acceptable. For instance, Amazon just had most of the Xbox One launch exclusives on sale for $49.99 each (disc). This should have
IMMEDIATELY went into effect on the digital pricing of those games as well. But games on digital only go on sale after the game is old news it seems. I don't think I ever saw a second week release title on sale as a digital download title, but you see it CONSTANTLY
    at retail.

I have pitched this thought before... If digital game purchases are to ever outsell Disc based, the secret has to lie in early release/access. Imagine the new Halo coming out DIGITAL ONLY for the first week, maybe 2. Imagine how many folks would jump at
    that.

Pricing for Digital titles should always be equal to or lower than their retail disc counterparts if the DD market is to ever stand a chance. Paying more for digital is just idiotic, even though I personally prefer the ease of downloaded titles.

Value & incentive for Gold & digital distribution

even if you buy digital for $60 since digital has no trade in value it's better to buy retail. MS will need to drop digital prices. MS should simply copy steam sales. even if at launch titles were not real cheap, if MS had summer sales and winter sales
digital would take off on consoles, but as it is, there is no reason to buy digital since retail has better value.

    RTS or FPS ?

That's a rumor for now, since they haven't commented on it. Though, I find it hilarious how suddenly there's no info on it after Enemy Unknown was announced and released. The other rumor circulating the lesser XCOM title is that it's moving from a full retail
release to a digital download via XBLA, PSN, and Steam for even cheaper.

Pros and cons of having a game on disc vs. having a digital copy

Specific to Xbox One, Digital allows for play without a disc present. It prohibits resale. Games purchased digitally can often times be refunded with a call to Live Support. I did this for the Xbox One version of the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition after
the news came out about the buy on 360, get it on Xbox One for free.

Disc-based games must have the disc in the console to be played. They can be resold. Disc-based games routinely go on sale unlike Digital, though MS has been better about sales on digital titles as of late.

There is no "size" difference as both digital and disc titles deposit the same bits on to the Xbox One HDD. In fact, installed-from-disc titles can be converted to digital titles (and thus obviate the need for the disc) by simply buying the digital version
of an installed-from-disc title. No re-downloading is required.
