Said goodbye to Xbox today.

Unfortunately, I had to pack my Xbox One into a box, slap a shipping label on it, and ship it to the repair center in Texas today. I've done this about 5 times with the 360 and now doing it again with the One. Just in time for the holidays where I would
finally have time to game a little. I don't expect to receive it back til end of January, start of February. Bummer.

I did the advanced exchange when my X1 broke down a couple months ago. They put a $400 hold on my credit card and shipped me out a brand new Xbox immediately. 3 days later I got my new console and put my broke one in the same box and shipped it back. As
soon as they received it, they released the hold on my credit card. Quick and painless.

 

What is this advance exchange? Never heard of it or was offered it by support. Would have been nice..

 

They didn't offer it to me either. I knew about it beforehand and had to ask for it.

 

That sucks.. I haven't had to repair my XBOX ONE yet (knock on wood), however my first XBOX 360 (White one) I sent for "repairs" four times, until I got fed up and bought the XBOX 360 Elite (black one) and it still going strong to this day.

 

@TSGLASS- Sorry to hear about that and i hate hearing about gamers having to send their consoles in during the holidays when new games are sure to be unwrapped:/ Hopefully you get it back quicker and all runs smooth.

 

As Sword said, Advanced Exchange works 100%! I received a new console in 2 days up here in Canada. No issues at all.... the MS rep offered it to me. Plus I had a hard drive failure so I got Forza 5 for "free".... plus 18 months of Live!..... top notch
for the minor inconvenience

 

What they aren't mentioning about the advanced exchange is that they essentially charge you for a new console and then refund you that money when they get your broken one.

It's a very quick system to be sure but you do need to have a way for Microsoft to 'hold' the price of a console.

I bought the Gamestop 2 year warranty if mine breaks, I just take it back to Gamestop and they give me a brand new X1.

 

Just a quick question. Are they still giving a free game for faulty disk drives? Had mine since March and need to set up a repair and wondering if I should bring this up to support. I'm cool if not. Love my Xbox1 and I have the 360 while I wait.

 

You may as well ask. Just pop a link to that freebie offer/thread in your email/chatbox with the rep, for them to reference. The worst they'll do is tell you that's over with. At best, you'll get a freebie. But like most things in life, if you don't ask...
