Sadly, Xbox is losing a 10+ year loyal customer.

After 10+ years of Xbox Live, 8 consoles (2 xboxes, 4 xbox 360's, and 2 xbox one's), and a 32,859 gamerscore, I'm looking elsewhere for my gaming fix.

It's been a great ride, but I currently have a 500 dollar Xbox One shaped paperweight sitting in my living-room, only two months out of warranty, and Xbox wants $135 more to render it usable again. Immaculately cared for, dusted regularly, and well vented,
it has developed a (relatively) common hardware problem, and switches off immediately after I power it on.

I tried every "fix" I could find, from official Xbox support advice, to scouring forums across the web, and none of them worked.

I finally contacted Xbox support and was told that the problem is the console hardware, and that since my warranty is two months out of date, I would need to send my system in and pay $135 to repair it. That's $135 to repair a system that is only 2 months
out of warranty, for a hardware problem I had no part in causing, on a console that was treated with the utmost care and love.

I have championed the Xbox brand to friends and family countless times over the last decade. Among other good things, I told anyone who would listen how Xbox and Microsoft actually
care about their customers. And they used to. Sadly, however, those days appear to be gone.

No attempt was made to try to make this right. No attention to the details of my particular case (common problem, barely out of warranty, loyal customer for well over a decade, etc) was paid. All I got was a regurgitation of corporate rules for dealing
with faulty hardware in Xbox One's.

I don't blame the Xbox rep. He was just doing his job. But If that's how they treat a loyal customer who has owned
eight of their consoles and countless games, I'm heading for greener pastures.

I played Omerta 2 years ago and the last time I checked it again was 3 months ago, and sadly I say Omerta has lost its glory and is not how it used to be before. Everytime they reset they make it worse and it's losing its users every day. I was a loyal Omerta player but I had to stop.

You are what is wrong with the world dude. Warranties do not last forever. Yours is up. Be thankful that they are not telling you to shell out $350+ for a new one. The grass is not always greener on the other side. Also, before you call me a fanboy I
own both systems.

I gather ANY other console or electronic device two months out of warranty would be replaced for free??

 

Hate to be the one to tell you what you probably already know, but you've already got moe invested than you'll get back. So why not spend the 135 and get it fixed?

If that 135 is just for one time only, then I could see it as a dead expense, but correct me if I am wrong that the 135 coveres your system for 1 - 2 years more?

 

I don't even know what to say. Electronic's go down now and then. Get it fixed and enjoy Xbox One and Xbox Live. I mean, it is ones responsibility to ensure their products are taken care of and insured

 

Hello "Hunkasaurus"

This is what I've been through with my Xbox console experience...

(1) Two defective DVD-Drives with the Original Xbox

(2) Two defective DVD-Drives with the Xbox 360

(4) Four RRODs with the Xbox 360

At the moment, I have two Original Xbox consoles (in storage) and two Xbox 360s (one is in storage and one is currently being used). Electronics break, that is a fact of life.

With that being said, I hope that you will be happy with whatever new console brand you go to

Microsoft won't notice unless your gamerscore is 40,000 but I understand where your coming from. Your frustrated but don't let that get the better of you because chances are pc gaming warranties and sony warranties will treat you the same.

 

This sounds pretty much like when I had my multiple red rings of death on 360, the first before they extended the warranty. It pretty much made me get a PS3 and make it my main system. If you would like to stay with Xbox I'd bite the bullet and pay the $135
to get it fixed, then I'd trade it in toward a Halo 5 bundle later. If not, go to PS4, at least they offer an additional warranty you can buy right from the PS store with a discount if you're a plus member, something MS should offer. It is also IMO the better
system and gaming company.

 

2 months or 2 days... warranty is up. Buy extended warranty for any electronic device if you so desire. As for "Loyalty".... really? Why do people feel that they are Xbox or MS #1 customer after a couple years of owning there product???????????

wow...always get extended warranties on MS consoles because they are a sneeze away from a breakdown.
