S2 Elite Controller Connection Issues

So, this all started out of the blue, yesterday. I was in the middle of playing Grand Theft Auto 5, story mode and all of a sudden after switching weapons I got stuck looking at the ground. Now, yes I had attempted somewhere around this point to fiddle with
the bluetooth connectivity feature, I had an unused bluetooth dongle (CSR 4.0 I believe) that I was just testing to see if it would allow me to use the controller wirelessly, upon trying to pair it I received an error message stating it failed to receive the
pairing code, I looked up the error message and discovered a possible solution was to install the xbox accessories app, and check to see if the controller's firmware needed updating, it had an update due so I went ahead and installed it, no issue. Tried to
connect again, and nothing, not even an error message. So, I shrugged it off, and planned on buying a xbox wireless dongle later on, plugged in my controller and went back to my game, and that's when the above issues started.

Well, since then I've tried just about every solution under the sun that I can think of, I've tried the steam fix a dozen times, restored from a restore point 2 weeks ago before I got my controller and same issue.

I've hit a brick wall though, I decided today after reading some more forum posts to try re-connecting it with my on-board bluetooth and it did, recognized it as an elite controller and even steam detected it, but it was super bad with input lag and not
detecting button presses (hence why I tried another dongle previously, and also planned on buying an xbox wireless dongle)

But, now whenever I connect it via wire, it doesn't recognize it as an elite controller but instead just a "controller" and if I go to devices and printers, and right click the "controller" that has a keyboard icon, it has both the keyboard settings and
game controller settings, I check what drivers are installed and there are keyboard drivers installed, and just xbox one controller drivers installed. I try to uninstall keyboard drivers, but everytime I plug the controller back in, the drivers are back. And
the xbox elite controller drivers never install even though the installation window says that they've been installed.

Also, I've done file corruption checks last night after chatting with support in email, and they just advised me to format my system...

I'd really rather not do that as I don't believe that would work anyways somehow, idk offer any advice at this point and I'll answer whatever questions you might have about the situation.
