    (Running out of Ideas) DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG/Removed


    Long year long journey on this error. I get it hit or miss in games, some games (Doom Eternal, Baldurs gate) I never get it but other games (everspace 2, diablo 4, pinball fx etc..) I get all the time.

    • Windows 11 (have latest updates)
    • Replace dGPU, CPU, PSU, NVME and tried different RAM but MOBO is the same
      • x570 5800x3d, 4090
    • Multiple DDU uninstalls, safemode
    • Done windows file system checker, DXI checker
    • Uninstall/reinstalled most software (e.g. steam, xbox, games) but have not done a full windows 11 tear down
    I've spent many hours looking at forums posts/troubleshooting guides and still running into this issue. Any and all thoughts be appreciated.

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    We understand that you've been experiencing this issue for a long time. The DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG/Removed error is usually related to the graphics card or driver. Since you've already replaced the GPU and tried different RAM, it's possible that the issue is with the driver. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.



    Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Make sure you have the latest graphics card driver installed. You can download the latest driver from the manufacturer's website.



    2. Try running the games in compatibility mode. Right-click on the game's executable file, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select an earlier version of Windows.



    3. Disable any overclocking on your system. Overclocking can cause instability and lead to errors.



    4. Check your system for overheating. Make sure all fans are working properly and that there is no dust buildup in the system.



    5. Try running the games in windowed mode instead of full screen.



    If none of these steps work, you may need to do a clean install of Windows 11. This will erase all data on your system, so make sure to back up any important files before proceeding.

    Perform Cleanboot - This will start Windows with a minimal set of drivers or Microsoft related system and startup programs running on the background. That way you will be able to test the game or apps for any interference that could have cause the crash or the game/app issue. NOTE: In order to evaluate whether a background software is interfering with your game or program and to pinpoint the root of a problem, this boots Windows with a limited set of drivers and startup apps.

    1. Sign into your PC as administrator.
    2. On Windows search bar search for: msconfig
    3. Select System Configuration from the search results.
    4. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click or tick the box for Hide all Microsoft services
    5. Then click Disable All.
    6. On Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, select Open Task Manager.
    7. On Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select one item at a time and then click Disable.
    8. Close Task Manager.
    9. On Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap OK and then restart the computer.
    10. Launch Deep Rock Galactic and check if issue persist.

    To go back to normal boot, you may restart computer.

    You would want to use the support for the region you are in. You would also need to have a phone number that is local to that region. If phone support is not available you would want to use chat support.

    Thanks. This url redirects to https://support.xbox.com/en-IN/contact-us where Request a call from support is not listed in the available contact options. I tried changing it to https://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us
    Now I am able to select Request a Call from support option. I selected country and gave my contact number. Here I am getting the error - The number you gave us doesn't exist. Try checking your info, or try another number. I went to the security
    settings and verified that the number is listed there. If I select the country as US and give my India number it proceeds with a message that you will receive a call in 1 minute. I am not getting the call in this due to obvious reasons. Looks like MS phone
    support is only for US. I am quite desperate. There is no way to solve this?
