Running out of HDD Space - Coming to an Xbox One, Near You Soon?

Working shifts as I do Az, I buy the game then go to work. Its all ready to go by the time I get in. I agree that alot of the time discs are better, (as with games you are unsure of so they can be traded) but the convenience, lack of disc swapping and lack
of wear on the drive are plus too!

 

I to will have under 100 gb after installing wolfenstein they do need to allow external storage in the next update.plus abit off the storage topic,this no kinect business and that it frees up power to run games better does this mean x1's without kinect can
do more than ones with kinect for games.if so then surely on a update they should enable x1's with kinect to be able to deactivate the kinect power usage.im not sure if it already does that when you disable kinect or the power usage of kinect just lay's dorment
when kinect is disabled.think they need to look into that to keep everyone happy.

 

Luckily I now have a USB 3.0 4TB Seagate Backup Plus. & with the update preview is working great, Even better was the added option of moving already installed games to the new hdd, Some failed the moving process. Still on the whole it has saved me many hours
of re-installation.

I also like the feature of being able to plug your portable hdd into any other Xbox One & play your installed games.

Well folks, grab your Seagates while you can.

Amazon offers the best price at the moment for £109.00 for 4TB.

Argos offers the ability to walk out with the device in your hand at £119.00.

PC world offer a 4TB Seagate but be careful... it's an older model that is only 5400rpm whereas the 2 above are the same newer model spinning at 7200 rpm.

I've got mine. Just waiting for the update now.

Joking aside I will probably pick one of these up in the coming weeks, I just got to wait for the piggy bank to eat a bit more lol.

Forgive my IQ but what is rpm and how does that factor into this?

 

Revolutions Per Minute - The velocity/speed of the platter spinning, I the higher the rpm the faster the potential read speed, but also more heat comes from the faster drive.

I don't know a lot about tech so a few questions, I've looked at the suggested hard drive and a few others and found a 3 TB one in Argos for 90 quid , as this is what I can afford at the mo, question is does the run speed make a lot of difference cause,
the one I looked at has a run speed of 5400,

 

I saw some guy with a link to some site that said they were comparing a 7200 additional drive compared to the internal HD and they insisted that it shaved seconds off loading times and offered some game comparissions but I don't know how reliable a site
they are.

A 5400rpm drive is not going to be dumber and I'd be surprised if it's noticeably slower.

3TB is a lot of space so if you don't want to spend an extra £20.00 on a 4TB one then it should be ok.

You should be fine.

It's the 3TB Version of what I've got and though it technically rotates slightly slower the only place you're really going to notice a difference is when internet nerds are shouting on internet forums about disc speeds.

It's the same brand of drive being used by Major Nelson from what I've been told.

There are people involved in the June Update Preview that are using this brand of external storage drive with their ONE's right now.

So it should be a safe enough purchase.
