Running old Xbox games on a 360

I bought the old Starwars battlefront 2 (the one for the old Xbox) in hopes that it would run on a 360. I had read in the past that it was compatible. It doesn't seem to work when I attempt to launch it with the disc. Can anyone help?

what about digital downloads of our favourite 360 games

like they do on the xbox 360 arcade games

surely if they can get them running on the old 360

they can do it with the next gen one

yes its possible.. quite easily

i would luv to be able to play

black ops 2 cod4..grid 2 etc etc on my one

maybe a £20 price on each game or less

come on ms get off you backsides and do this

Question about backward compatibility of Xbox 360 for playing old Splinter Cell Trilogy

After playing Halo 1 and Halo 2 on my XBox 360 S I've decided to play a few more old Xbox Original games and bought the original first Splinter Cell (-CD) but the game doesn't run and i get the message that the game is not certified
for this console despite being on the official list of old games which are playable on the XBox 360.

I have an original XBox 360 S with an original hard drive.

Are the old Splinter Cell games still running on the XBox 360?

And what about the other games on the list? Is the Xbox 360 still backwards compatible in general?

I would appreciate your help

Are you getting any error messages or anything when you try to run it? Do you have an official MS Xbox hard drive attached?

No doubt the xbox 360 edition will run perfectly from the disk if you choose to play it on an old Xbox 360. Might be abit taxing for the old Xbox 360. There are reports of current new release games crashing the old school 360 consoles. Overheating and dvd
drive wear is a possibility.

This game runs only on the Xbox 360 console, it's not backwards compatible with the Xbox One.

Since this is an Xbox 360 game and Xbox 360 consoles are pretty old now (the last model of 360 is now 11 years old), I suggest you install the disc completely to the 360 hard drive. Not only can this improve the stability of the game, it will reduce the wear and tear on the poor old X360 DVD drive.

All Xbox 360 consoles whether they be new editions or old are able to run the same games.

Hi, yeah as you stated some games run better than other... typically first party games are optimized better, for example Halo 5 run on the standard xbox at 1080p at 60fps, other games are less optimazed or "heavier" and run only at lower resolution and lower
frame rates.

Regarding old gen xbox ported on the xbox 360 the situation is the same, it depends from how the game was designed and how it is emulated on the xbox 360.

Now these games are old and since the xbox team now is working on the retrocompatibility for the next xbox scarlett I think that there will not be further updates for original xbox games retrocompatibility on the xbox 360.
