    Run Microsoft Store Apps from USB Drive


    I am trying to put an application from the Microsoft store onto a USB drive and execute it from said USB drive, but it doesn't have a .exe file or a shortcut to the application. I have tried downloading the application and using the move option in the apps and features tab in the settings. I have also tried to set the download location to my USB drive and download it that way, with no success. The folders it creates are my user folder, program files, and Windows apps. Program files and my user folder are both empty, but the windows apps folder reads "E/:WindowsApps is not accessible" when I try to open it. Honestly, I just want to have the application on my USB drive and have no trace of the application on my actual drives. Plus, I would like to use and run the application on the USB drive on serval different computers, currently, I can only run it on the computer I downloaded it on because there is no way to run the game from the default folders it creates when the game downloads on the USB drive.

    Microsoft Store apps are encrypted, you won't be able to modify the files and you won't be able to use them on other computers. It is only possible to use the apps on the system that was installed.

    Are you running the apps/games from the console drive or an external drive ?

    This could also be a potential factor if its not a quick drive. (USB 3.0)
    You can't store games & apps on a drive that isn't USB 3.0

    Hi there.

    You should be able to play your media files from the drive - you just have to install Media Player app. When you run the Media Player app, select your external USB drive, then select the media that you want to play.

    Only be careful not to format the drive because that way all the data stored on it will be erased.

    Can't launch Flight Simulator 2020 on Game Pass

    I also tried installing on a different drive, running as admin, reinstalling XBox beta app, running from XBox, running from Windows Store, running from start menu, terminate the app, repairing the app, resetting the app. All to no avail.
