Rubber grips peeling off Recon Tech controller

Had the controller for a little over a year and gradually, the grips on the underside have bubbled, expanded, and are now peeling off. One is almost completely off now. Are there any suggestions as to what I can replace them with or at least make the controller
more comfortable to use when they come off completely? The controller itself is working fine, but without the rubber, it's going to be quite uncomfortable to use. Don't really want to glue the stuff back down, as the rubber has actually expanded and wouldn't
fit properly now. If I cut the rubber down and then glued it back in place, I may well have the same problem again when there's more expansion.

Short of buying a new controller (without the useful grips in future) which I'm loathe to do, what are my options here?

    Thanks!

    :)

    Thanks for the replies guys.

As the controller is waaaaaay out of warranty, I'm open to some more creative suggestions. I have looked around on ebay, amongst other places, but nothing looks ideal. I had seen the Scuf stuff, and you're right about the cost!

Is there anything that is a direct replacement for the grip that can be applied? Things I've looked at either seem to stick over or wrap around instead of a simple replacement, and I'm highly doubtful about anything other than very short term use, before
    things start to peel etc.

I'm almost at the point of pulling the grips off completely as it's becoming irritating to use, but because they're inset it'll leave a hard ridge that will be far from comfortable.

Out of interest, is this a fairly common problem with these grips? I've seen plenty of mentions of the elite controller, but not so much for versions like the Recon Tech.

    Thanks.

It's just the glue wearing out I had this happen to both my elite and on my recon. They sell controller wraps that will help with this problem the replacement pieces are cheap on Amazon as well.

^ He just said that I had it over a year now

Since I have experienced this same problem the bets bet would be try to find some replacements online, I have a Elite controller and happened exactly the same, I tried many ways to fix it using different type of things to try to keep the grips in place but
nothing worked, I decided to take them off and look for replacements, it could find some on eBay but I didn't find anyone that could replace them.

Anyways, at the end I got used to the controller that way, but you could try above because there is no way warranty could replace yours.

    Hi Daz72P.

Thanks for your post. I understand your controller is gone through wear over the time you've used it. If your controller is within the 90-day accessory warranty, then check out

    Device Support
for replacement options. Also, we do not recommend modifying the controller in any way.

    I hope this helps.

I've heard a lot of the rubberized grips (especially, but not always Elites) coming off. If you have an extended warranty through whichever retailer you purchased your controller from, definitely check that out--I replaced an Elite with the grips coming
    off that way.

If you purchase something that sticks over or wraps around, that can help reduce the peeling. I used electrical tape around the edges of mine to keep the grips on until I used the warranty (it was easy enough to remove without damaging the controller further
    and made it more comfortable).

If you're already set on trying to fix it yourself (not recommended), cutting the grips down to size and re-gluing them could work, especially if you use a strong, non-expanding glue. You could also take it to an electronics store and see what they recommend.

If you do end up replacing the controller, I'd advise paying the extra bit for the extended warranty in case it happens again, as many warranties do cover stuff like this.
