Do RTS games control well with a controller?

The reason that I'm asking this is because I don't play RTS games and I know that RTS games are big for PCs

Will the x720 still have RTS games?

I'm amazed there were not more RTS games on Xbox and i'm also amazed they did not think to use the Chat Pad for hotkey commands...

 

Please make kinect optional, I LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE

Like I said earlier, give me an RTS game that uses Kinect and you've got yourself a hit. Loads of people like RTS games, but on consoles they just don't right because of using the controler. But Kinect could actually make an RTS game on a console feel
right.

 

There aren't many rts games for that reason but I think they're playable

 

Yeah there have been a few good ones, Halo Wars and Lord Of the Rings BFME2 spring to mind, but generally it's a PC dominant genre.

 

It all depends on the interface.

Check out "The Wasteland" and "Divinity: Original Sin".

Both are great RTS's "Divinity" especially is a great example of a User Interface that has been mapped to the controller almost flawlessly.

I'll warn you now there's a lot of reading in "The Wasteland". That's not a bad thing but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

In "Divinity: Original Sin" all dialogue in the game is spoken and all characters are voiced.

I heard the first K&M XBOX ONE game will be HALO WARS 2. But that just rumors of the internet. Unless it pop up in the next preview update. And preview members get the beta to try the K&M function of the one.

 

Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin are NOT Real Time Strategy games. They are Turn Based RPG's.

Real Time Strategy games are, Halo Wars, Command & Conquer, Supreme Commander and R.U.S.E. and IMO they control horribly with controllers on Xbox. Just stick to PC for RTS games. AI War: Fleet Command is my favorite RTS game of all time. I have 400+ hours
on Steam.

The reason that I asked is because I was curious to as how the keyboard and mouse interface would translate into the controller when there is a lot less buttons on the control pad

If I recall correctly, don't RTS game use the F1 to F12 keys and then some other stuff to boot? These are called " quick keys " or something like that.
