Router or Xbox Issues "Need Authentication"

    Hey all,

I finally upgraded (for me) to an ASUS AC3100 router and a stand alone Netgear modem C700 from a Netgear roouter/modem combo CM7000. I went with Asus based upon recommendations from friends and reading some reviews since my boys spend some much time on their
Xbox. We weren't really having issues with the old system except you could tell it was taxed at times with lag playing multiplayer games(BO2 and Fortnite). Knowing I was going to be working from home I decided to make the change but didn't think I needed to
spend $500 on a new router.

That said I seem to have had nothing but issues with the new router like my printer can not longer be found on the wireless network (I had to hardwire that in) and now it's almost impossible to stay online for games and my personal Xbox can not connect at
all. It started with intermittent connections, dropping in the middle of the came, failed to connect to server issues and the main Xbox is now in a vicious cycle of your are connect to you need additional authentication with no ability to connect at all. I
tried the solution found in this thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...n-needed/f6980f3d-d690-48aa-be56-72e341552bd4 outlining
the alternate MAC address but that did not help the situation, so this morning I reset the Xbox completely but now I can not complete the set up of the Xbox because it is asking me to connect to Wifi.

I am open to any suggestions except hardwire all your Xbox Consoles!

    :)

I am most likely looking at creating a network of Routers in the house due to my office location compared to other devices in the house so I am hoping to find a solution.
you could look into Powerline Adaptors as an alternative to a network of routers as you would be able to hard wire all the devices and cut down on wi-fi interference

    hope this helps

    Hi brentonrose,

Thanks for your post. I understand you are experiencing an issue with your Xbox One having connection trouble with your new network setup. If you are unable to get past the wireless network connection on your home network, try a different connection such
as a wireless hotspot. If you are able to connect with another internet connection, then there may be an issue with your home connection.
