    Router/Modem combo causing issues


    So I use a zoom 5353 router/modem combo with xfinity internet. For three months I haven't been able to play FIFA online at all. Also I got dropped from the Destiny servers all the time. The thing is I had none of these problems using the same equipment/comcast
    before I moved three months ago. I've heard rumors there was an update that caused some of these issues, or that it has to do with my router/modem combo. Can anyone confirm this or help?

    its noit about the port on the back man, you can put 1gb port for lan, but it might not support it for internet. IT's about the docsis and then for wifi it has to do with the band(s) it's using, channel it's using, and the type of signal it's using (a, b, g, n, ac).

    If you are using 2.4 the default you are likely getting interference from everyone near you, you lose packets, slowing speeds. 5.0 less commonly used, but interferes with some newer wireless phones which are 50, but has far more channels than 2.4.

    In short, if you have a docsis 2.0 or lower you won't be able to hit a 100MB connection, 3.0 upped the speed, and it looks like 3.1 upped it again. This means you can have a router that has wireless N for instance but it doesn't support docsis 3.0 + so it can't go over 60MBs, well actually i think Docsis 2 is about 30MBs but i could be wrong.

    Look for N, AC for wireless and dual band routers so you can choose based on what's around you, and download an app to your phone to scan for channels used see what's the least used.

    Why having troubles with NAT type ?

    Not sure of the exact problem but make sure you don't have two modems on the network. Sometimes gamers will have their own router and the modem the ISP provides is a combo device (modem/router) and if it is not configured for a modem only it will cause
    all kinds of NAT issues. Just a thought.

    Make sure the new modem is not a modem/router combo if you have a separate router on your network. If you have two routers on the network it could also cause this problem.

    If I may ask, why do you have an E1200 if the Bell device is a modem/router combo? Do you have the 2wire Modem/Router set to just modem? It can cause issues if the E1200 acts like a router and then your Bell Modem/Router acts like a router... I'd contact
    Bell and make sure that it's configured properly. Good luck getting redirected to India with their sub-par customer service though.

    Do you have a comcast modem or comcast modem/router combo. If it's the router combo, there's no reason you can't use it, no need for a secondary router. My friend had a comcast modem/router combo and had 2 Xbox Ones and a 360 and they all worked great, all

    Is that a modem/ router? The router in the combo modems stop working well after a while. I have a 2 wire combo modem/router. Had to set a router behind it and place it outside the 2 wire's firewall for it to work.Hope this helped
